The heart of the Life Sciences and Diagnostics industries is a small, tight-knit community of people committed to doing great work. #ADLM is a “homecoming” of sorts. It’s a chance to meet up with long-time colleagues face-to-face and reconnect with peers and past coworkers you haven’t seen in a while. I had a great time in Chicago at the beginning of the month, both seeing my team (Blythe Rudolph & Alexandra Orr) and bumping into old friends and colleagues I was overdue on catching up with. One observation from the event this year is that there is renewed energy and urgency around hiring. A lot of companies have gone through layoffs and restructuring recently. Now, many are looking to rebuild their teams. I was pleasantly surprised by how many leaders are approaching hiring strategically and intentionally while maintaining that necessary sense of urgency. This is important because, more than ever, candidates are being selective about where they will/will not work, with an increasing focus on things like company culture, leadership, and work-life balance. As always, the industry continues to evolve; and those who can maintain strong relationships, identify emerging trends, and appeal to the priorities of top talent will be best positioned for success now and in the future.
