Hey Freelancers: A quick question... Are you reverse engineering your website traffic? Did you know there are tools you can use now that instantly profile every single visitor to your website as they're on the site, in real-time? These tools pull back a LinkedIn URL, an ISP address, a name, and any other identifiable information which the person visiting has made publicly available. That information is sent directly to you via a Slack ping so you see who's visiting live. You can then take those profiles and use data enrichment tools to grab even more information, and move those folks into an email outreach tool to do WARM outreach to people who fit your ideal client profile rather than constantly cold pitching. Helpful Content Analysis Summary 1. Helpful content was not always a "site wide" devaluation or suppression of content - this was more notable on domains that had different content topics in different sub folders - HCU would often hit specific content types and not everything 2. Sites that were "single topic" often saw the greatest hits because of how HCU worked - it would look at overall engagement & performance factors post brand assessment before supressing content 3. It APPEARS as if a threshold would be met if a larger portion of content didn't yield expected behaviour - if the probability of a "poor session" went up too high than the overall impact would be almost DOMAIN wide 4. In-page ads and UX appeared to play a part in helpful content evaluation - I noticed trends in auditing where shorter engagement page profiles (because of UX and ad stuffing) lead to shorter and lesser engagement - often these sites had ads nearly SITEWIDE which would drag down GLOBAL metrics - rendering MORE of the domain less helpful & more likely to suffer wider suppression 5. Interaction to content availability LOOKED to be a factor - this is my own speculation. But if pages had thousands of words of content that never saw interaction - it would be an indicator that: > the content may not have been helping users to achieve what they set out to do > The content may have been written for SEO > Poor / disorganised or cluttered content layouts would put users off from engaging or scrolling For example - I noted a huge amount of casino affiliate sites that jammed far too much content into comparison pages saw significant decline because no one would consume a full article and less than 10% of users even got half way through scrolling 6. HCU could be SKIPPED if other thesholds were met - if a page/overarching brand was strong enough, Google could use other factors outside of HCU for evaluation - thus some sites would just sail through HCU as if nothing happened 7. UGC likely won not just because of REDDIT + GOOGLE in bed, but because UGC tends to have a negative more real world bias which subsequently tends to draw more engagement than content that has a bias behind it (to get you to buy a product i.e. affiliate) Other things to note: 1. Once HCU suppression was in place - little could be done to have any effect - I don't say this lightly, suppressions are WORSE than penalties/manual actions which can be recovered from more quickly (generally) 2. HCU suppression IS transferable - however there appears to be SIGNAL TRANSFER lag - which may explain why some site owners who changed the domain saw a burst of traffic before seeing everything bottom out again 3. HCU escape MAY be possible with a change of domain and migration of content without using Google search console COA - but how sustainable this is - I don't know - Google has a hard time attributing content to original sources #seo #seotips

As a Solopreneur, picking a vertical/horizontal is the most common (and ineffective) way to niche down. Buyers see right through it. Here’s what happens: → You slap a modifier on your website for a specific type of company or person. → Your content lacks the depth that anyone you’re “targeting” cares about. → Your offers feel generic and could apply to anyone. → Your sales calls ramble on and are slow to close. → Your prices stay too low for too long. This is what everyone does, and here’s why this doesn’t work: → You never showed buyers that you *get* **their problem - only that you have a service to sell (like everyone else trying to sell them something). The most successful Solopreneurs I know do the exact opposite. → They niche down on a *problem* - not just a vertical or horizontal position. → And then they attack the problem from every possible angle, over and over again. Because they know something most people miss. The problem is the solution. This mindset is how they overcome the fear that “niching down will alienate buyers.” After working directly with dozens of Solopreneurs, I can tell you that the more specific the problem is, the more you can charge, and the stronger the magnet you become. #plantyourflag

Prompt engineering - either a meaningless term or a frustrating one - is essentially a way to write more efficient prompts for an LLM like ChatGPT or similar.  I've been asked a few times recently about prompt guides/engineering; is there an essential list of prompts we should use etc? Well, I'm not a fan of copy-and-paste prompts being offered up as THE solution ❌ Whilst you can get some mileage out of duplicating well-established prompts, the models behind them change and develop quickly, and SOME services handle some prompts better than others. Why not take the time now to practice better prompt writing? 1️⃣ Start with a broad problem/question and ask for more information about the subject. If you're really not sure where to start, this will help give you better context. 2️⃣ Ask for a process to solve the problem or work to break the problem down into the different stages yourself. 3️⃣ Give specific instructions around each point of the process, test after each time, tweaking and getting it right. 4️⃣ If something is more complex or you don't know how to simplify any more, ask for a chain-of-thought answer to see a "thinking out loud" style response. 5️⃣ Review the detail to understand what is being done and challenge any issues with examples AND detail HOW it should be. There are more specific guides here (https://buff.ly/3GInnca) for working with OpenAI, but the general points above will help the process be less frustrating and increase your output's accuracy. Once you get used to writing prompts you'll find you don't need to break it down into so many stages - it will speed up. But I'd rather get the right answer slower, than getting the wrong output really quickly, which is the usual fear in using LLM outputs.
