How I Teach Stretched vs Cozy Coaching Cozy coaching happens often iwhere both the coach and client are courteous to the point of avoiding discomfort. While these are nice interactions, they often lack the depth needed for meaningful progress. In today’s fast-paced environment, we need stretched conversations not cozy ones to propel coaches and clients forward. Human-Centered Leadership Development: Embracing Key Wellbeing Indicators for Success For over four decades, I’ve dedicated my career to developing Key Wellbeing Indicators (KWIs) that align seamlessly with an organization’s Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). In 1998 I introduced KWIs while designing wellbeing as a core leadership competency, skill, and strength through my L3 Leadership Learning Program. At first, the idea of wellbeing as central to leadership was met with skepticism. Yet, over twenty-five years of applying this approach have reshaped how leaders and organizations understand wellbeing’s role in achieving sustainable success. KWIs measure more than results—They highlight the human factors that drive performance. Here are some of the guiding outcomes I emphasize: “KWIs remind us that behind every performance metric is a person, and behind every person is the need to feel valued, resilient, and engaged.” Leaders ensure employees feel seen and appreciated by centering metrics on people, enhancing engagement, and creating a culture where individuals can thrive. “KWIs are the pulse of an organization’s wellbeing, revealing how each heartbeat of engagement, resilience, and connection drives success.” Regularly tracking KWIs provides real-time insights, enabling leaders to address challenges proactively and maintain a resilient workforce. “KWIs turn wellbeing from a concept into a commitment, showing that a thriving workforce is not just an ideal but a measurable reality.” With actionable KWIs, leaders can address specific wellbeing needs, fostering greater satisfaction and retention.
