✅🖥️ Nielsen (10/15): “Nielsen’s September 2024 report of The Gauge™ revealed that NFL viewership this month notably reflected audiences’ familiarization with the cross-platform distribution of its games. This was most clearly indicated by the 12% bump in Amazon Prime Video viewership in September, which was driven largely by Thursday Night Football, and ultimately led it to match its platform-best share of TV (set in September 2023 and tied in October 2023) at 3.6%. Peacock also benefited from NFL-driven audiences with its exclusive coverage of Green Bay vs. Philadelphia on September 6. The NFL’s debut in São Paulo, Brazil garnered 2.6B viewing minutes, making the game the 11th most streamed program in September. The resurgence of the NFL was also evident on the broadcast side, as NFL games accounted for 14 of the top 15 broadcast telecasts in September, with the top three garnering over 3B viewing minutes each on NBC, CBS and FOX. Additionally, broadcast sports viewing was up nearly 9% compared to August, despite already coming off a 44% increase the previous month due to the surge from the Olympics. Streaming maintained its 41.0% share of TV in September despite viewership declining slightly from August (-2.2%), in line with seasonal trends. ✅🖥️ DIGIDAY (9/20): “The NFL overhauled its app ahead of the season’s kickoff last week, placing its ad-free RedZone streaming service at the center of its NFL+ premium customer offering. At the same time, European soccer leagues including France’s Ligue 1 and Italy’s Serie A have pushed forward with their streaming efforts, with the former’s games now shown online only in the crucial U.K. and Ireland market. Sports organizations know that demand for these services stems, in part, from the complexity (and cost) consumers face when trying to view every televised match their team takes part in. NBA games, for example, are set to be split across four different media providers, while English Premier League fans would have to subscribe to Sky Sports, TNT Sport and Amazon Prime Video to follow their club’s season in its entirety. RedZone is priced lower than cable or streaming packages — $35.99 a year, compared to $59.99 for CBS and Peacock, for example — and has been available through the NFL+ subscription package as a standalone streaming service since 2023. It’s now the centerpiece of the NFL’s digital app, and a major component of the NFL’s attempt to answer that consumer demand for simplicity. The service itself is simple enough — a subscription simulcast that pulls from CBS and Fox’s live Sunday coverage, bouncing between games with no breaks and no ads (though, there is room for advertisers around the edges — DraftKings, for example, currently sponsors RedZone). I’m looking for a company that may need some help launching a brand/product in the U.S that is already present in another market for a class I teach on Global Marketing at the LMU Graduate School of Business. The class focuses on determining how a brand’s USP and differentiated positioning may be leveraged to succeed in the US market given distinct competition and unique consumer dynamics. For the first half of the semester these students (who have full-time jobs during the day and take the course at night) will learn the foundational elements of global marketing, positioning and effective marketing strategies.  They in turn apply these techniques to build a recommendation plan for your brand/product encompassing: -       Market Analysis -       Target Audience Profile -       USP/Messaging -       Media Mix Recommendation That plan would be presented to a representative of your company in December. You can think of it as hiring a strategic marketing group for free, and using that as a first draft for your company. We did this last year for a smart watch company and it worked out well for both parties. Obviously no funds are required, and we simply ask you to share details on the current brand/product in market, as well as projected sales and budget for a US launch. In the end, you receive a strategic view of the business and some fresh ideas from bright students, and they receive some real-life experience. The cutthroat power struggle within US Soccer is plunging the sport into a downward spiral, with MLS at the forefront of the controversy. Accusations of MLS deliberately sabotaging the USL in a bid to cling onto its dominance are rife, exposing a desperate grasp for power. This calculated move by MLS comes as no surprise, considering its ongoing assault on the USL's modest strides in lower league soccer. The recent demise of USL San Diego serves as a grim reminder of the ruthless tactics employed by MLS to crush any potential competition. Such ruthless maneuvers not only stifle the growth of the sport but also erode the very essence of healthy competition that soccer thrives on. As per Netflix, Christmas Day National Football League (NFL) games will be played on the streamer. The major streamer’s aggressive move into LIVE sports, specifically the NFL, is incredibly encouraging. Despite the NFL's massive audience, which drew 97 out of the top 100 US broadcasts of 2023, the NFL audience is only monetized by its broadcasters five months out of the year. X League, positioned as America's No.1 sport's entry into Women's Sports and already drawing NFL audiences across its digital and social platforms, will become the perfect complimentary sports media IP leading into each NFL season to further monetize the built-in NFL audience that sits dormant for the remainder of the year. #football #linear #streaming #global #viewership #nfl #xleague #herturn

I was having breakfast with a friend this morning and he asked me one of the best questions I have ever been asked: Since you’ve been doing podcasts for the past few years, how has your perception of listening changed and what is listening to you?    I think this is one of the best questions I have ever been asked (understandably I am not asked very many questions as I am usually the one interviewing NOT the other way around)   I took him back to my first podcast with Ruben Emir Gnanalingam CEO of Westports Malaysia & Co-Owner of Los Angeles Football Club (LAFC) & QPR FC   For that podcast I prepared for 100+ hrs   Then the night before I was supposed to interview him   I was sick   Maybe this was due to nervousness but nevertheless the podcast did not go ahead   Fortunately Ruben was very understanding and so we rescheduled the podcast for a week later   Again   I spent 10s of hours preparing for the podcast   I was so prepared for the interview that I knew everything about him from his favourite colour all the way to his blood type   Just kidding   But the point was I was incredibly overprepared   I did the podcast with Ruben with a list of 100+ questions   Why did you join Westports, why did you create a startup, why buy QPR   In theory these are all good questions but the problem was   If I asked Ruben a question about football and he started talking about football then transitioned to talking about how he created a basketball team   As an interviewer that is gold dust because it gives the opportunity to pivot to something that he perhaps hasn’t talked about before   However as a first time interviewer I didn’t know this   And so instead of transitioning with him I would flip to a completely different topic   This would have gone unnoticed to me   But since Personable is recorded this piece of feedback came back to me   I went from having set questions that made a forced conversation to set topics   Enabling me to be adaptive alongside my guest to have a more free flowing conversation   Have a listen to that first episode and then listen to one of the latest podcasts and see if you notice a difference   This learning in my journey through podcasting has taught me that to learn new knowledge the less I say the better   The more opportunity there is for new learnings, the more I can absorb and the more I can go about improving my life going forward   Growing up we all feel like we want to fit in   For me this was accomplished my need to fill silences and be there to adhere to what I thought the group would want to hear   But now I realise that silence can be a virtue   The less you say, the more open ended questions you ask, the more comfortable you make the other person feel and allow them to feel heard and trusted the more you will learn   So what is listening to me: Opportunity Harvey Bracken-Smith November 20th 2024

How Juan Soto has just made himself $600+ Million Dollars…. ⚾️ Juan Soto has just set the stage for the largest contract AV (Average Per Year) in MLB history…. all at the age of 26, Soto has proven year after year that he the prodigal son of Major League Baseball and provides instant impact to any team he plays on. Value 🔁: To even be considered for a contract of this magnitude the trade offs between the organization and the player must be close to equal. Soto has slugged a .989 OPS with 41 home runs and an World Series berth. There’s your Value he provides Finances 💵: Since many teams have varied payrolls and amounts of money to spend this free agency the potential teams that could land the services of Soto are minimized. Since said team would have to be able to make and offer estimated to be over $620 Million Dollars to even start a conversation Prediction 🔮: Free agency is very unpredictable and is hard to get a grasp on because teams keep negotiations private and players use teams for leverage but to my knowledge i would suggest that Juan Soto sign with the….. New York Mets on a 12 year $680 Million Dollar Deal…. it just makes sense. Market of New York ✅ Energized fan base after last seasons post season success ✅ Owner willing to spend huge amounts of dollars over the upcoming years to improve the franchise ✅ and Lindor, Vientos, and Senga all guys that are fairly young and ready to improve as a franchise.

Tonight's #trailblazingtuesday takes us down memory lane.... I started at ESPN the same year Bob Iger became the CEO of the The Walt Disney Company in 2005. The stock price was $19.60 on Dec 31st of that year. For 18 years while I was at the Company I watched him masterfully create multidimensional franchises out of singular IP titles, acquire and integrate the Pixar, Lucas Arts, and Marvel brands into the Disney ecosystem, license the first ever television show (Desperate Housewives) to iTunes, go after the rights to the World Cup and the first ever College Football Playoff, pull all of Disney IP from Netflix to start Disney+, put the first American theme park in China, and the list goes on and on. 16 years later, in 2021 the stock price was at record high of $201. And now in 2024, Bob Iger and Willow Bay join a number of smart and savvy business owners, CEO's, tech leaders, and VC/hedge fund investors, as the newest majority owners of a women's sports franchise, and my Angel City Football Club is in for the ride of the lifetime. (You better believe I am upgrading my season tickets NOW) . If this doesn't scream WAKE UP to everyone sitting on the sidelines NOT investing in women's sports because the scale still isn't as big as men's sports, the athletes aren't as recognizable, the content can't be found, blah blah blah. Even during the offseason, the NFL makes noise. Per reports, ESPN will take over the NFL Network while “the league gain an equity stake in the family of networks." Now, I don't think ESPN needs to augment its talking heads + highlights package with more talking heads + more highlights + old games no one really watches. Not sure if that is much of a win. BUT… The NFL will presumably own part of ESPN, ESPN+ and Sports-Hulu (and no doubtably impact ABC's MNF) AND offload all the production capital expenditure of having to run the NFL Network in a deteriorating cable environment. That's a win right there. https://lnkd.in/gk_cwgjb hat tip: Lee Kyle Gaither

In 2023, she generously contributed a staggering $2,153,000,000 to 360 nonprofit organizations—triple the value of Ohtani’s 10-year contract! Wow. This is great from the Las Vegas Raiders Digital is now 100% the way of the world, but every now and then, something tangible and memorable will stand out. What I love about this is that they still use individual game tickets - it's that collectible element and having a new crisp ticket for each game. This could actually circle back round into the digital world - Season tickets could be a digital to improve on safety, efficiency and sustainability but you could still create that real game day experience with a digital booklet of tickets as a opposed to a single, season long card. Why not extend its purpose to collectible ticket stubs and other digital items or rewards, building engagement, connecting fans and importantly capturing and bringing data into the mix. There's a lot to delve and possibilities are pretty much endless, but the foundation still lies in the tried, tested and loved original way of delivering season tickets.
