It can take 2-3 months just to get approval to run ads for RMG operators. That’s before you even think about testing, scaling, or optimizing campaigns. It’s frustrating, it’s slow, and it’s filled with red tape. But having someone on your side who knows the ins and outs of this process is everything. Here’s what it actually looks like when you’re trying to launch a campaign in this space: Month 1: Compliance Checks & Waiting Around You’ve filled out every form, submitted all your documents, and followed every rule in the book. Now you wait. And wait. If you’re lucky, you’ll get feedback from Meta or Google saying you missed some tiny detail. If not, your account just sits in “review” for weeks. New Brand Tailored Audiences (and "upcoming emailing capability" message gone) Amazon has added a bunch of new audiences to Brand Tailored Promotions. What I'm curious about is that the old message that said "The ability to email audiences will soon be implemented" is gone. Not sure if Amazon canceled the idea entirely but, without it, activating these promotions is basically giving up on otherwise guaranteed revenue as only customers who are already looking at your Product Detail Page will see the promotion. Yeah, maybe a small increase in conversions for customers who were on the fence, but we aren't really "attracting" these audiences and, without a way to measure incremental sales, it's another incomplete programme. With emails sent out, this would be a powerful tool that Amazon could easily monetize on.

WARNING: This post mentions blood sucking Zombies and describes scenes of gross financial malfeasance. If you are squeamish, turn back NOW. I'm sometimes asked to share the books I have found most helpful for crafting an effective DTC campaign in the medical device space. I used to share such gems as: >> The Innovator's Dilemma >> The Robert Collier Letter Book >> Cialdini's work on persuasion (Omar M. Khateeb loves this guy) >> Christopher Lochhead 🇺🇸🇮🇱🏴‍☠️'s gems on category design. These have all served me well, but none as well as George Romero's definitive treatise on zombies: Night of the Living Dead. If you work in the medical device field in any capacity consider this film the key to future-proofing your career. This film teaches us two critical things about Zombies: 1) It's hard to know if they are dead or alive 2) They have a voracious appetite My proposition, kind reader, is that if your company is relying on a zip-code based physician locator to connect prospects with local clinics -- and drive revenue -- you've cozied up to a zombie. Let me explain. The common assumption for years has been that prospects are rational and obedient and follow the conversion path YOU want them to take. Which looks something like this: Paid Traffic> Manufacturer Website> Clinic Locator> Call Practice> Make An Appointment This DTC funnel is appealing and widely taken as gospel and.....HALF DEAD It was killed by search-savvy consumers who want to learn about a local practice before placing a phone call. After all, they are heading down a path that at the very least could burn up half a day going in for a consult. At most it means the people at the other end of the phone line are going to cut them open and implant some magical, wonderous device. In this context, doesn't it make sense to learn about the clinic BEFORE placing a call? Of course it does. So this is what lots of prospect journeys actually look like: Paid Traffic> Manufacturer Website> Clinic Locator> Google> Local Clinic Website> WTAF???-- Do these guys even do this procedure > I'm Gone Your clinic locator may seem alive because it's the best tool you have in your DTC arsenal, but it's HALF DEAD because prospects --being rational actors -- visit a clinic's website to build trust before they place a call. And in the vast majority of cases their experience with your product on the clinic website is a No Show or Major Disappointment. (I'll talk more later about ways to fix this) The part that really stings is that you have PAID good money for these prospects who fall out of your funnel. I've been asked the same questions frequently lately regarding labelizer tools, segmentation scripts, and the Shopping Booster. Specifically about how to handle data post-sales period, when the data no longer reflects typical performance. 🛒📊 During sales periods, conversion rates, order values, and purchase intent are generally higher, while profit margins may be lower. 📈 This inflates product performance data, and when advanced campaign setups rely on past data to move products between performance buckets, it can become problematic. Historical data that doesn’t reflect future performance can lead to overspending on products that performed well on sale but may underperform afterward. Google offers a fantastic tool called Exclusion Period 🛠️, which helps adjust its algorithm post sale periods. However, this feature only impacts the algorithm itself, leaving reporting in Google Ads unchanged. Since tools like labelizer scripts and ProfitMetrics Shopping Booster base their product movement rules on historical reporting data from the API, that data still reflects inflated metrics. So, the question is: Should we disable these tools and scripts after sales end, then reactivate them with a shorter lookback window for performance data? The challenge is that many products won’t have enough data with a shorter lookback window. One workaround is to download custom labels for products before the sales period begins. Afterward, you could pause the tools/scripts, then re-upload those labels to restore pre-sales data. But let’s be honest, this can be time-consuming. ✨ That’s why we’ve introduced the Exclusion Period feature directly into Shopping Booster! ✨ This feature allows you to exclude specific sales periods directly in the settings: - With a 90-day lookback window, segmentation rules will consider 90 days of data while excluding your sales periods, such as Black Week (November 24–30). This ensures data reflects typical product performance. - You can also schedule exclusions! For example, you can set the exclusion period to activate on December 1, allowing you to continue segmentation during Black Week and seamlessly normalize your data afterward. 📅✅ Used alongside Google’s native Exclusion Period, this feature gives you better control over both algorithms and reporting while correcting for periods of inflated metrics. 💡 I'd love to hear your thoughts, how do you currently handle this challenge in your setup with labeling tools? 🤝

Not profitable on FIRST order? Here's how we sorted this one of our clients. They wanted a CPA of $5, and major issue was low gross margins. We'd to carry out marketing operations under 15% of AOV. AOV - $40 Niche - Accessories Here's how we tackled it. 1. AOV We sat together, brainstormed & formed a solid upsell offer. Implemented various upselling flows including post-purchase + cart progression bar. Injected upselling try into various stages of funnel. Increased the AOV from $40 to $60. Earlier, we were paying $6 for a $40 purchase, but now paying same, but for a $60 purchase. Thus, ROAS also effectively increased. 2. LTV (Retention push-ups) Besides pulling AOV, we also stretched down on this way. Here your KPI is not ROAS, its LTV/CACs. - We started shooting multiple offer-based blasts every month. - Started a rewards program (hugely benefitted) - Created a VIP list, and we actually made them feel VIPs. So now, our retention rate rose from 25% to 40%. VIP customers hugely contributed to this. Earlier if 25% of our customers were purchasing for second time, now 15% more customers are purchasing. Out of 2k orders, now we're getting 800 orders as repeat ones. For which we're paying next to none if compared to new customers. On AOV level, if we were paying $5 for each order worth $40, now we're paying same, but more conversion value. ROAS & LTV/CACs increased, and ad spend - still same. One thing which has also helped us undoubtedly a lot is - our affiliate program! Brings in purchases for less than 10% of AOV. This accessories brand is purely net profitable using these strategies.
