✅🖥️ Nielsen (10/15): “Nielsen’s September 2024 report of The Gauge™ revealed that NFL viewership this month notably reflected audiences’ familiarization with the cross-platform distribution of its games. This was most clearly indicated by the 12% bump in Amazon Prime Video viewership in September, which was driven largely by Thursday Night Football, and ultimately led it to match its platform-best share of TV (set in September 2023 and tied in October 2023) at 3.6%. Peacock also benefited from NFL-driven audiences with its exclusive coverage of Green Bay vs. Philadelphia on September 6. The NFL’s debut in São Paulo, Brazil garnered 2.6B viewing minutes, making the game the 11th most streamed program in September. The resurgence of the NFL was also evident on the broadcast side, as NFL games accounted for 14 of the top 15 broadcast telecasts in September, with the top three garnering over 3B viewing minutes each on NBC, CBS and FOX. Additionally, broadcast sports viewing was up nearly 9% compared to August, despite already coming off a 44% increase the previous month due to the surge from the Olympics. Streaming maintained its 41.0% share of TV in September despite viewership declining slightly from August (-2.2%), in line with seasonal trends. ✅🖥️ DIGIDAY (9/20): “The NFL overhauled its app ahead of the season’s kickoff last week, placing its ad-free RedZone streaming service at the center of its NFL+ premium customer offering. At the same time, European soccer leagues including France’s Ligue 1 and Italy’s Serie A have pushed forward with their streaming efforts, with the former’s games now shown online only in the crucial U.K. and Ireland market. Sports organizations know that demand for these services stems, in part, from the complexity (and cost) consumers face when trying to view every televised match their team takes part in. NBA games, for example, are set to be split across four different media providers, while English Premier League fans would have to subscribe to Sky Sports, TNT Sport and Amazon Prime Video to follow their club’s season in its entirety. RedZone is priced lower than cable or streaming packages — $35.99 a year, compared to $59.99 for CBS and Peacock, for example — and has been available through the NFL+ subscription package as a standalone streaming service since 2023. It’s now the centerpiece of the NFL’s digital app, and a major component of the NFL’s attempt to answer that consumer demand for simplicity. The service itself is simple enough — a subscription simulcast that pulls from CBS and Fox’s live Sunday coverage, bouncing between games with no breaks and no ads (though, there is room for advertisers around the edges — DraftKings, for example, currently sponsors RedZone). 📊 October's Nielsen Gauge report is out and The Roku Channel continues to grow, up 12% this month 📈 , making up 1.8% of TV time. What's not mentioned in the report, is that Roku is THE leading TV streaming platform in the US overall and acts as a key driver in growth to The Roku Channel and ALL the other services measured by the Nielsen Gauge.

✅🖥️ CNBC (9/1): “Due in large part to Peacock, 23.5B minutes of the Olympics were streamed, up 40% from all prior Summer and Winter Olympics combined, according to a release. “Peacock delivered in every way that we hadn't before," said NBCU. Besides having all live coverage, exclusive shows like "Gold Zone," hosted by Scott Hanson of "NFL Red Zone," gave fans more options for all-day viewing. There were also features built solely for the Olympics, such as an artificial intelligence function featuring daily recaps in the voice of Al Michaels, a longtime voice of marquee NFL games. An estimated 2.8MM consumers signed up for Peacock during the first week of the Summer Games, averaging nearly 400K additions daily, according to data provider Antenna. This nearly matched the sign ups driven by Peacock's exclusive NFL Wild Card game in January, according to Antenna. The game is considered the most streamed live event in history with 27.6MM viewers, according to Nielsen. They aren’t often grouped together, but the latest data in the new Variety report “Social Video vs. SVOD: The Race to Replace TV” suggests they can be thought of as a series of historical shifts in U.S. audience viewing behavior. First, the cable business broke broadcast TV’s stranglehold in the 1980s. Thirty years later, Netflix led a field of successor streaming services that siphoned eyeballs at equally sizable scale from linear TV. And now even though streaming is hardly done in terms of its growth relative to broadcast and cable, there are signs of a paradigm shift already in motion: a third wave of fragmentation in which social video begins to eat into the market share of major streaming services. Data keeps mounting that video consumption on the big social platforms — primarily YouTube, TikTok and Instagram — is growing strongly, with users spending more time on these platforms each year. 🌟The Value of Mentorship in My Journey🌟 From a young age, I’ve been fortunate to have incredible mentors guide me through different stages of my life—whether in sports, work, or personal growth. I’m truly grateful for the mentors who helped shape my career path, broadened my perspective on life with their own experiences, built a strong mindset and supported me through challenges with their knowledge and networks. One particularly meaningful mentorship was with Daniel Pünter during my final year at the University of Applied Sciences of the Grisons. Daniel helped me gain a clearer understanding of my career path. Through a few coffee catch-ups, he quickly recognized my strengths and areas for improvement, offering neutral feedback on the dreams and goals I had set. He challenged me to think critically about which strategies would work best to achieve those goals. After each conversation, I left feeling more motivated, encouraged, and confident than before.💪🏻 I’m incredibly grateful to Riccarda Ryffel for connecting me with Daniel, and of course, to Daniel for taking the time to mentor and coach me. Over the past year, I’ve grown significantly, developing both my strengths and weaknesses. I look forward to continuing to work with Daniel Pünter in the future. The National Basketball Association (NBA) and Prime Video & Amazon Studios are reportedly finalizing a deal that could change the game for sports media, and putting pressure on Warner Bros. Discovery and NBCUniversal According to executives with direct knowledge of the talks, the streaming service is set to become a major home for the league’s games. Prime Video's package is expected to include significant regular season and postseason games, and possibly even some conference finals. The contract is anticipated to be for at least a decade and slated to begin during the 2025-2026 season.
