This conversation between Mark Caswell and John Roach is a great reminder that when it comes to values, we need to both firmly anchor into them over time, and allow them to evolve as the organization evolves. When I started five years ago, Resultant was an organization of around 90 people. Today, we have 500. Our original values couldn't stay rigid with that kind of rapid growth. We had to test and refine and clarify them at every step. But we also had to guard against letting our values expand and generalize too much. If anything, as the company got bigger, our values had to get tighter and more specific. As John says in the podcast, having 14 company values is the same as having zero. A client recently asked me "What's an M&A integration issue that leads to the greatest technical challenges -- and cost -- post-close." My response surprised him. I said data mapping. It's mundane, but important. It's a dependency to properly integrating systems (and with AI automation too BTW). And it's an area that most M&A practitioners (except me :-) don't diligence. Consequently, acquirers don't plan for potentially complex and time-consuming data mapping post-close. In my experience, it's THE determining factor between integrating a system or not, which can lead to duplicate operating costs, increasing already-stretched IT workloads, and missing M&A synergy objectives. I recently came across this blog which does an excellent job of summarizing several techniques which my teams have used. Thanks Eric Crane!

"It does not matter how slowly you go as long as you do not stop."-Confucious "Never discourage anyone who continually makes progress, no matter how slow." - Plato Last May the Writers Guild of America (WGA) was the first of several Media & Entertainment industry unions to go on strike, followed in July by the Screen Actors Guild (SAG). Of the many grievances both unions listed in their justifications for grinding the industry to a halt for over half a year, was the concern about the use of #AI generated content by the member studios of the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP) without proper attribution or licensing royalties to the original creators. Based on multiple independent studies, the combined strikes are estimated to have cost the Media & Entertainment industry between $5-$6.5 billion in lost revenue, which does not take into account their impact and influence on the reduction of new production starts this year, the decrease in valuation of the studios in the financial markets, or the subsequent mass layoffs at many of the studios they were striking against. Last month Lionsgate announced a deal with Runway to license their entire library of images and likenesses, who are owned by the studio, not the actors. Yesterday Hearst announced a similar deal with OpenAI to do the same. A new survey conducted on behalf of WalkMe has highlighted the pivotal role of Digital Adoption Platform (DAP) professionals in helping drive the adoption and integration of AI within organizations. Key insights: 🔹 nearly 60% of DAP professionals integrate AI products or solutions into their daily tasks  🔹 the most sought-after AI applications among DAP professionals include task automation (29.4%), streamlining workflows (28.3%), and application walkthroughs or guided tours (21%) 🔹 38% of DAP professionals report that less than a quarter of their organization uses generative AI (GenAI) tools, while 15% indicate no GenAI use.
