Move NY & Regional Plan Association

Move NY is a region-wide grassroots campaign to raise awareness of, and build support for, a regional transportation plan that seeks to raise new revenue to invest in NYC's mass transit system and road and bridge network; bring equity to the region's tolling system; and reduce the City's traffic congestion. The Move NY coalition is comprised of a wide array of stakeholders representing the region’s businesses and business groups, labor, clergy, civic leaders, transportation and environmental advocates, and elected officials – all of whom recognize the imperative to maintain and enhance a world-class transportation system.

Move NY formed in 2010 in response to the growing crisis facing our city’s transportation network – in the form of drastic service cuts, escalating fares and tolls, and a dwindling funding base. In 2012, we teamed up with renowned traffic engineer, "Gridlock" Sam Schwartz, to promote what we believe is a game-changing plan he developed after traveling around the region and talking with dozens of stakeholders, including many who opposed past traffic-pricing plans. Together, Sam and the Move NY coalition have developed a plan that squarely addresses those concerns and points the way to maintain, expand and modernize a system that by most measures lags behind those of many other of the world's global business capitals.
