On March 7, 2019, #Venezuela experienced a massive blackout 💡 that left Maracaibo, the country’s second-largest city, without electricity for 96 hours. This crisis not only worsened already difficult living conditions but also highlighted the deep disparity in basic services between Caracas and the rest of the country. While Caracas maintains relatively stable electricity and gasoline supplies, in the interior, including Maracaibo, citizens face daily blackouts, fuel shortages, and severe deficiencies in public transportation. The #energy crisis has forced Maracaibo residents to adapt with makeshift transportation methods and endure long lines to access basic services. In response, I have developed an innovative plan to implement sustainable energy solutions in Maracaibo, utilizing solar power to enhance mobility and supply for the population. In 1959, my grandfather founded a shopping center that has become a family heritage and a cultural landmark of Maracaibo. Despite current challenges, this center continues to operate. My proposal is to transform this historic space into a solar generation hub for electric vehicle charging. This project will reactivate two major public transport routes, significantly improve residents' quality of life, eliminate dependence on fossil fuels, and facilitate free movement. Additionally, it will help to gradually and sustainably revive the city’s economy. Let’s turn this #dream into reality and restore lost spaces through innovative solutions, transforming the Land of the Sun into a true solar powerhouse that changes the lives of its people. #alternativeenergy #innovation
