Boulder, CO has a thriving startup community, with thousands of founders, CEOs, engineers, VCs, and more. Every year, they get together for a huge (free!) week of community and events. It's f'ing unbelievable. One of my biggest takeaways was this... Everyone was dealing with imposter syndrome. And almost nobody wants to talk about it. At every level of business there’s always someone who’s doing better… There’s always someone who’s got more revenue and more profit… There’s always someone who has something you want… And you currently aren’t at that level yet. Which - at worst - paralyzes you because of all the work you see in front of you… Or - at best - inspires you so much that you have no choice but to put in the work to get to the next level. Or more realistic… It’s an emotional roller coaster between those two extremes. Which keeps you moving, while also making you question if you should burn it down some days. I’ve done a TON of mindset work… It’s possible to take these big mental and emotional issues like imposter syndrome, and massively decrease (sometimes eliminating) their impact on you. But even then… When I put myself in a new environment, rubbing shoulders with $100m (or more) entrepreneurs and investors… OUCH - it flares up again, my skin flushes, I feel the adrenaline/cortisol mix moving blood to my extremities in a fight/flight response. Which then makes me feel like more of an imposter... Because “I’m supposed to be the mindset guy who doesn’t deal with this kind of issue, aren’t I?! I must be a fraud! I hope nobody finds out!” If we can come to terms with this fact (again, I know you’ve heard this before)… That every new level has a new set of mindset problems, and business problems… That very new level will demand so much more of you… That every new level will cause you to feel imposter syndrome again… Then we can allow ourselves to be scared shitless sometimes. It’s what you do next that matters most.

I went to a stranger’s house by myself to learn about podcasting. 🎧 Here’s what I learned. ↓ It was a pretty cool event in Mesa, Arizona with a mega podcaster/content creator named Jaeden Schafer He’s the host of the "AI Chat" podcast, which has garnered over 3M downloads and helped raise $600K for his software company. The meetup was specifically to help new podcasters discover the tactics used to achieve the first 1 million downloads. I didn’t know what to expect, and it was in a house which Jaeden turned into a podcast studio. 🤯 It was an awesome event. 𝐊𝐞𝐲 𝐭𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐚𝐰𝐚𝐲𝐬: → News content wins if you’re fast. Shorter episodes specifically on that news story is key. → SEO is underrated when it comes to podcasts. At one point Jaeden hired a team of VAs and created 100 different podcasts just targeting keywords in AI and repurposed the content to all of them. He had a podcast titled “ChatGPT” and then as it grew and he was able to interview higher profile people, he changed the title to AI Chat. <- Killer → Getting out of the credibility phase is important, so building social proof should be the main priority. Once you have it you can leverage it. → Podcast covers should always have your face in it, it adds a memorable touch point to the possible viewer/ listener. Even if they don’t consume your content the first time, there’s a good chance they will remember your face and click to listen/ watch the second or third time they see your podcast pop up in search. → Higher volume matters for podcasting especially around heavy news topics. What’s interesting… I learned that most people forget the basics are what works. And they’re always shooting for virality and metrics that don’t matter. But basic things, like your face in a podcast cover, building social proof, and targeting keywords with your podcast really work. Keep up the basics. And as you do, ask yourself how to become more efficient on a daily basis. You’ve got this.

Lemme vent for a second about how value of this platform is dimishing thanks to: - #recycled #content - #propoganda and #bots - retirees using this platform as a substitute for Facebook - #Utah tech bros bearing their religious testimonials (I lived in Utah off/on for nearly 30 years and this does not get any less cringe) Folks are sharing the same videos from Telegram and news articles (even those written by AI). Some of y’all are even paying to promote your posts (yes, looking at you Skydio.) That’s real SMFH vibes. Anyway - the next few weeks are going to be massive for the #West and related #industrialbase for #drones: - we just had Anduril Industries and PDW win #MRR (I would have loved to have seen Edge Autonomy and Quantum Systems on there but I digress) - #SRR announce is IMMINENT - between Skydio and Teal Drones (Utah LFG!) - this is one of the largest contracts and programs of record in our industry. It would be nice to see both companies awarded, tbh, as it really helps the industrial base and more so, creates a massive black eye for the loser. I’m long #RCAT btw and would love to see these jobs brought to my hometown of #SLC. - #BlueUAS Refresh applicants get notified this week if their solutions were accepted for the first round of vetting. Curious to see who makes it and who doesn’t. - lots of #FPV stuff coming out of the woodwork, I’ve got eyes on #Europe 👀 - #SkydioAscend24 will unveil the #dock for X10 - it’s better than the predecessor, but larger and more expensive. Plus, lots of #software features like better #autonomy. (tbh, I’m always stoked on what Charles Wood and his crew are doing - the guy has had me eating my words like cereal on a few occasions about their products and despite the posts I relish being wrong and coming to a different conclusion - whether re: drones or something else). Word on the street is that they’re raising $$, again. (Quick take: if Skydio loses SRR, I believe the company will double-down on #DFR to alleviate any #investor concerns.) - Zipline (presumably) taking the wraps off of their P2 #dronedelivery platform. Keenan Wyrobek you’ve got everyone’s attention, as per usual. Ironically it’s the companies which are struggling or really need to streamline that will lean even more aggressively into things like having more geographically diverse (remote) employees. It is with mixed emotions that I share that I am no longer with RevAmp. I appreciate the opportunity and experience, not just the past year at RevAmp but for nearly a decade of company building with Tom Chavez and Vivek Vaidya. I wish the RevAmp and super{set} teams the best as they pivot RevAmp to an India-based company that offers a marketing solution with ICP lookalikes and email automation. I also want to thank Gretchen Waldsmith. If I've learned anything, work with people who make the challenging journey worth it. Gretchen exemplifies that grit, trust, and passion. I can't wait for our paths to cross again. As for me, I'm eager to return to my roots and immerse myself in RevOps consulting projects. I'm also actively seeking full-time CRO and RevOps roles. If you know of any opportunities, I'd appreciate your sharing them. However, I remain passionate about ensuring a scalable monitoring and observability solution for go-to-market. This work is not just important; it's essential. As we head into the 4th of July holiday, ask your RevOps team about the broken systems, processes, and dashboards they will return to after taking a few days off. Our companies are losing billions of dollars of revenue because the strenuous efforts of a few are stringing together our GTM operations. As someone said to me the other day, this isn't a question of whether it's needed but more when it will exist. The frameworks are there, but the ability to properly monitor and draw actionable fixes at the speed and precision that efficient revenue growth requires remains the biggest blocker in having a go-to-market operate on all cylinders. With this in mind, I'm building an action-based think tank focused on GTM Data and System Design best practices. Like the GTM Consortium, which has developed a best-in-class approach to GTM strategies and standards, this think tank aims to open source data and system guidelines that will enable the operationalization of the go-to-market. It can significantly impact the industry by providing blueprints that lead to reliability, faster building, and better technology utilization for RevOps and GTM teams. More to come shortly. Did you know that Colorado is one of the top states for the tech industry and one of the best places to start/grow your tech startup? 🚀 CO has over 24,000 tech businesses, with about 17,500 of those in the Denver metro area. CO's tech industry has grown significantly in the last decade, with nearly 140,000 jobs supported by the industry as of the end of 2023. The tech sector accounts for 18% of CO's gross state product, and 9% of the state's employment, and in 2022 the tech sector contributed $49.8 billion to CO's economy. Also, our funding environment is among one of the strongest in the US- according to a 2020 report, Capital invested in CO companies has grown 86% in the past five years, ranking CO in the top 10 for VC funding nationally, and in 2023 CO raised $4.3 billion in venture capital across ~500 deals. 😎 So yes, CO is a great place to start/grow a startup, AND we have amazing resources, such as incredible accelerator programs that support those building tech companies in CO. 🙌 Yesterday, I had the opportunity to host "The State of Colorado Tech Accelerators" Panel during Denver Startup Week. We learned about the many resources available to founders in Denver and across Colorado, and heard from the people who are directly supporting our founders. Thank you to Michael Bevis from the City and County of Denver who shared about the many resources available to entrepreneurs in Denver, Sasha Green who shared how Techstars Workforce Development Accelerator addresses the challenges of the modern dynamic labor market through innovative technologies, Adam Sanchez from Rockies Venture Club who shared about RVCs many programs that support entrepreneurs and investors in Colorado, Max Cupp who told us about Exponential Impact's programs and the focus on the holistic side of founder support, Samuel. Houser who shared how Access Mode supports those exceptional founders who have traditionally been furthest from opportunity, Timothy Jones shared about Innosphere Ventures programs supporting Life Sciences, ClimateTech and Smart Cities, and we heard from the amazing Vanessa Huerta who told us about the exciting work happening gener8tor, including additional upcoming Colorado focused programs! Hey y’all. I’ve launched and run a distributed, thimble-sized software company, and we’ve created a government so small you can fit it in your pocket. Our customers are mostly indigenous and separatist movements, including this one in the Pacific Northwest (see the link).Domestically our target market is the large percentage of Americans that live in unincorporated communities and in small towns, most of whom have not felt the beneficial halo of a government for generations, if ever. Internationally we focus on transitional and developing economies with a large “shadow economy,” which is not the same as a black market. A “shadow economy” is that which would be technically legal if people were declaring the income to the tax authorities, and our value proposition is incentivizing people to formalize this shadow economy, which helps them maintain a state of communal autonomy, vis a vis criminal enterprise and black market which tends to seek a safe haven within shadow economies during times of hardship and political upheaval. Our technology is “private label,” and our customers publish the app within their communities without the necessity to reveal that we are behind the scenes, anonymously maintaining the platform. The app and architecture itself has the capacity to function almost invisible to mass surveillance, making it attractive to those seeking autonomy within the malignant halo of oppressive governments. The app is what’s called a progressive web application (or a “PWA”), which is an architecture first introduced by Twitter in 2017, enabling apps to be distributed outside the stores without the necessity of a device being jailbroken. The app handles ordinary currency, but is technically a web3 app, so if and when a community is ready, we can help them transition to the use of a complementary currency which is introduced as a “buy local first“ program. Outside this endeavor I volunteer my experience within a variety of open-source projects, most of them related to privacy and security, putting into service my decades of hard/earned professional experience in the domain of product development in Fortune 1000 and large privately-held corporations in the information security and anti-fraud space.

In 2016, I found myself in a high-profile meeting with Founder Of Tech Stars of Bolder Colorado , still “green” to the world of big tech. This was one year before I met the Brand New Chairman of Microsoft. I made a bold post online about the very work you see today on the caliber people saw coming privately, and at the time, everyone thought it was impossible. Interestingly, we actually crossed paths before that, on the FAMU SET. I introduced myself as Jonathan, and he introduced himself as John, literally kept it moving . Little did I know, he was the new Chairman of Microsoft, just as they hit a $1 trillion market cap. And yet, I had already made an ambitious post about meeting him. 😅 Notice a pattern here? I’ve been at this for over 10 years, delivering results at the highest levels, in plain sight & that bothers those who can’t figure it out. I’m authentic and that’s what missing, my motives are clear and I’m direct but I always make sure everyone benefits not just me ( that’s rare ) . I don’t need to prove myself to anyone. I’ve been before it was even a “ Popular Topic “ or “ Experts on TV “ were discussing stuff, I’ve sat with those who had no clue what “ Social Media Harm Reduction “ was with the #1 tech company (2016 ) , the #1 university, MIT Sloan School of Management (2019 ) , and the #1 HBCU, FAMU (2015 ) and more I’m more concern with ACTIONS, what can be done, what can be streamlined.
