As many head to the Databricks Data+AI Summit next week, I wanted to resurface this blog. Read-on to learn how the Informatica Cloud Modernization Service is helping PowerCenter customers more easily modernize their existing data warehouses to Databricks and their existing classical data flows to use modern integration patterns. Clearly all AI workloads are not the same, we should consider them in two categories - AI training workloads, and AI inference workloads. Training workloads are computationally intensive, and can be time consuming depending on the complexity of the model and volume of data. So the requirement is for high compute power, storage and bandwidth for high data throughput. Inference workloads are about low latency and need to be closer to the edge. They also require relatively less compute because it’s about application of the model than building it. As companies think of public/private cloud options for their AI workloads, training workloads may continue to reside in public clouds, while inference workloads may be candidates for repatriation.
