We looked at : - Tableau Public Visualization - Tableau Dashboards - Tableau Worksheets - Dummy object - Actions in Tableau- Dimensions - Data-related job roles - Connecting Data. Our meeting for this particular day took on a new dimension to learning tableau. We took a look at Faith Rotich Superstore's profit analysis. She said the inspiration for this was the Sample Superstore Sales Performance by Pradeep Kumar G, a Tableau Ambassador and Viz master. The analysis covers 4 year period for review, Items taken into consideration were: Profit Profit Ratio Profit per customer Profit per order Profit by region ( dual Axis chart beside horizontal bars ) Profit by state ( symbol map with colours showing profit) profit by segment ( dual Axis chart beside horizontal bars ) Profit by Sub-Category We replicated the Select a Year section step-by-step, We looked at the selected current year parameter.

My takeaway from this meeting : - You can run multiple instances of Tableau public. - Concatenation is possible with calculated fields. - Splitting is possible with calculated fields. - String manipulation and conditional logic are possible in calculated fields I am looking forward to the next workshop on Tableau, we will be working on other types of calculation. One critical aspect of learning is understanding the concept and tools, especially when looking at Tableau. Stereotypes are almost always wrong. - Peter Okukogwu Stereotypes are bad predictors. It’s difficult to rely on such data.

The session was all about mastering the art of design and data preparation, and it truly exceeded my expectations! 🎉 ✨ Key Takeaways: 🚀 Effective Design with Figma: Prasann Prem demonstrated how Figma can be leveraged to create visually stunning dashboard wireframes and templates. His insights into integrating design tools with Tableau were really cool and helpful 🎨🖌️ Data Cleaning with Tableau Prep: Mehras Abdoli took us through 4-5 practical approaches for cleaning data using Tableau Prep. His demonstrations were hands-on and immensely helpful. These techniques will undoubtedly streamline my data preparation process! 🧹📊 Overall, it was a fantastic learning experience, and I’m excited to implement these new learnings and strategies in my work. Hi Data_Fam It's a great Monday experience to finish Intermediate Python course this morning. I've gained knowledge and hands-on experience in : * Matplotlib: a data visualization that makes it easy to create meaningful and insightful plots. * Dictionaries and Pandas. *Logic operators using if, elif and else conditional statement. These are comparison operators. *Loops: WHILE and FOR Loops. We looked at : - Jittering ( redo) - Circle Charts Jitter plots have been written about by at least three Tableau Zen Masters: Steve Wexler, Mark Jackson, and Jeffrey Shaffer. My takeaway from this meeting is - Using borders and colours helps perception in tableau Jittering. - Average is generally applied in tableau to get a sense of the jittering - Aggregated fields help Tableau to make some assumptions. - we can use several shape forms on our jitter chart - Average reference line can be across cell or table - Jittering is Adding INTENTIONAL noise to avoid overlap without harming the data. Tableau jittering was created 12 years ago. - Jittering was a mathematical function. - You can't put things to memory beyond a particular threshold. We looked at : - Tree Maps - labels - Filters - Quick Table Calculations - Pie Charts - Circle Charts - Area Charts - Jittering While looking at the above in Tableau, we talked about the massive features in Tableau from real-time dashboards and stories, to the Tableau pulse and all their benefits. It is also a tool that’s loved by C-level members for its intuitiveness and AI features. My takeaway from this meeting is - Average is generally applied in tableau to get a sense of part to whole - Aggregated fields help Tableau to make some assumptions. - we can use several shape forms on our jitter chart - Average reference line can be across cell or table - Labels help the mind to easily interpret and hold onto the message on a reference line. We discussed the Colab Innovation Hub hosting the Justice Hackathon for Apps against Gender Violence and GBV which is organised by the HiiL | User-friendly Justice , from the Hague. What makes you succeed in the data space is not the tools, The things that make you great are the way you set your mind up. if you follow football you will know Arsene Wenger, he said the things that get you into football are your technical skills. Technical features are good but you need human features are necessary too. When you make a decision to do data, you have to have faith that it will work for you. We talked about mindfulness as a technique that involves being aware of the present moment without judgment. It is a cognitive skill that can be developed through meditation, yoga and other techniques. Mindfulness can help people to : Become more self-aware- feel calmer and less stressed - Cope with difficult thoughts- Be kinder to themselves. We looked at the work of Andy Puddicombe, a British author, public speaker and teacher of meditation and Mindfulness, this reminded me of Jon Kabat-Zinn: Teaching Mindfulness and Meditation on Masterclass. My Takeaway: - Data sets without year components can be made more useful by adding their year components using calculated fields. - Analysis of Accommodation data is made easier when the start date and end date are clearly defined on the canvas. - Datediff function is a valuable tool in most time-related analysis.
