I am a long-term supporter (since 1998) of the RSTMH. I was elected to its Board of Trustees in 2012 and re-elected in 2015. I was granted the privilege to serve as President from 2013-2015. My motivations for engaging with the RSTMH are simple, its main objectives of promoting the study, control and prevention of diseases in disadvantaged communities around the globe, reflect closely my personal motivations for a career in tropical public health.
