And straight from local split-screen to local area network multiplayer, my next assignment is underway, with the third assignment being a client-server cooperative multiplayer-based game. That should be easy enough to expand upon the current system using Unity's Relay and Lobby packages as it also includes the option of creating a dedicated server. However, I still have to look into that a bit more. If that is not possible I will just switch over to Photon Networking as there are multiple options to assist with creating multiplayer systems. But I have already learned plenty about multiplayer systems, and I will be expanding the project to fully showcase all that I have learned, from combat, spawning, and events. Generally, the biggest problem that I have faced so far is that the system is Server Authoritative, meaning that most decisions need to be made on the host system. We are moving fast! Check out our latest feature in action: dynamic weather effects transforming the world of Star Ruins! Just yesterday, through last night, we added dynamic weather and all its awesome effects. The impact on Star Ruins and the new biomes has truly leveled up! Highlights from the video: - Protagonist Nyx interacts with the puddles: Watch as she makes her way through the dynamic environment. - FPS counter: Note the good performance by watching the FPS counter above the mini-map. - Star Ruins: Currently about 80% optimized. - Mist Maiden Biome: In its early stages with limited optimization as of yet. - Quixel Trees: Still decimating some of those awesome but underperforming assets. - Voxel System: Utilizing the voxel system exclusively, no traditional landscapes involved. With Teella’s years of system engineering expertise, we’re confident we’ll push performance well over 100FPS.
