🚀 Exciting Developments in XR Technology! 🚀 Not having controllers is an exciting problem to solve for many XR creators. It pushes us to think beyond "which button should I use for X?" and instead, focus on the most natural way for users to interact with their hands, while ensuring the headset can recognize those movements. As XR becomes fully adopted, we won’t want to carry controllers everywhere; we'll want seamless interactions through XR glasses. However, some XR activities, like firefighter training, require controllers for interacting with various tools and providing haptic feedback. My friend and business partner at Dpt., Hugues Bruyere, has been making amazing strides with real-time generative AI. As AI increasingly integrates into our lives, it brings up vital ethical considerations. At Dpt., we're dedicated to exploring human-first approaches to this technology. Hugues’s latest work, meshing the virtual and the physical, involves using clay to co-create with AI, but similar collaborative approaches could be applied to mediums like music, painting, and writing. There are very legitimate concerns about AI’s role in emulating or even replacing human creative work. I believe, however, that developing and leveraging AI as a tool for exploration and collaboration is the most constructive approach. We are committed to understanding and shaping these technologies responsibly, ensuring that they enhance rather than overshadow human creativity.
