I'm pleased to share that Lightrock has continued to support Thomas Doering and Distribusion Technologies in their $80 million Series C funding round. Distribusion is the leading global B2B ground transportation marketplace, addressing inefficiencies in this €700 billion market. The industry’s progress has been hindered by legacy technology, making multi-modal travel planning and booking difficult and time-consuming. This increases costs for consumers and negatively impacts sustainability as travellers opt for private cars and taxis over less polluting transportation options. Using a single API, Distribusion connects transport carriers like National Express LLC, Amtrak, and Deutsche Bahn with retailers such as Expedia Group, Google Maps, and Alipay. This allows consumers to seamlessly compare and purchase tickets on trusted platforms. There's a high likelihood that Distribusion has facilitated your travel without you knowing it. Pleased to share that Fin Capital’s Fintech CEO Pulse Report is out! Fin Capital surveyed over 50 CEOs and C-suite leaders of private companies from our portfolio and the broader fintech industry during June and July 2024 to get a quick pulse on what’s top of mind for fintech’s leaders. Here are some key takeaways: - Optimism in the Air: More than 60% of CEOs reported being bullish or highly bullish on the fintech industry for the second half of 2024. - Regulatory Changes on the Horizon: CEOs identified Cryptocurrency, Open Banking, and Buy Now Pay Later as the top three sectors likely to see increased regulation by the end of 2024. - Headwinds persist. Despite overall bullishness on fintech, CEOs report a weak IPO environment and flag that macroeconomic volatility, regulation, and high interest rates remain top challenges for their companies. This week I'm offsite with my C-suite besties from Vanta 🦙, David Eckstein Jeremy Epling Ari Shahdadi & Christina Cacioppo, kicking off the annual planning process. We'll sit together to whiteboard and debate where to invest, what to focus on, and equally importantly what we won't prioritize in the coming year. Vanta has grown a ton and how we organize our initiatives matters. We're seeking clarity of thought, focused direction, and definitive metrics. We'll leave this week with a draft of: - Our Strategy on a Page (SOAP), summed up in a single unifying vision statement - 4-5 major Strategic Initiatives (SIs), tied to specific customer cohorts we aim to serve - A set of Contributing Actions that capture, along with key metrics, what we'll build and invest in and how we'll measure success Next up we'll bring this draft to our Leadership Team for feedback and iteration. Once the LT iterates on this plan we'll enter formal creation of the Annual Operating Plan (AOP). Planning may not be sexy, but these rituals set the tone for a thoughtful, clear plan that drives focused execution. And it's also quite a lot of fun to sit and talk about the future and who we want to be next year and beyond. 😀 🚀

Among the most interesting aspects of the new $4.6 billion KKR investment fund targeting the US middle market is its focus on broad-based employee ownership, an expansion of private equity's alignment-of-interests principle. That focus may be a differentiator at auctions as sellers weigh which buyer to choose. Many founders may find attractive the idea that the new owner of the business will reserve a chunk of equity for employees who previously did not have the opportunity to participate in that form of wealth creation.
