Up and up! More fund products declare intent to move to T+1 Since the CCMA's April 22, 2024 post of products processed through Fundserv moving to T+1, we've received more information and now estimate that over 70,700 T+1-settling products (76.5%, up from 73.7%, of 92,500 products currently settling on T+2) will move to a shorter settlement cycle. If your firm hasn't made clear whether all, some, or no funds will move to T+1, please complete (or provide updated answers to) our survey (in English or French) to help advise dealers, advisors, and independent investors which funds and related investments will be moving to a shorter settlement cycle on May 27, 2024 and which will not. The latest information is available on the Technical Information page of the CCMA's website. This is a positive development for Canadian ETF investors. The Canadian ETF Association (CETFA) looks forward to implementation of T+1 on May 27 and welcomes the transition from the current T + 2 settlement cycle. We know that it requires firms and advisors to adapt their systems and processes. But we are confident that the shorter cycle will ultimately benefit those who recommend and those who invest in ETFs. I was referred to, Training Consultants, via a Trader employed with a larger investment firm. You can take the basic knowledge "SIE" Securities Industry Essentials, on-line course, without requiring company sponsorship to sit for the FINRA test (obtain an ID first thru FINRA and pay $80.00). Then schedule the course thru ProMetric for securities basic licensing virtual testing or in person. I started the course to educate. You can self-study, on-line, for any of the advance courses. 📈 The State of Wisconsin Investment Board (SWIB) has announced increasing its holdings in BlackRock’s iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT) by 447,651 shares. How Do We Resolve Late Changes To Aggregate Direct Loan Totals For 2023-24 Pushed ISIRs? The following was posted to the FSA Tech listserv on April 18, 2024: "NSLDS identified an error with the calculation of Aggregate Loan Totals due to duplicate Capitalized Interest amounts. NSLDS deducts Capitalized Interest from an Aid Recipient’s Outstanding Balance when determining if a student is close-to or exceeding their Aggregate Limits. This issue was corrected by NSLDS, and all affected loans were cleaned up on April 7, 2024. However, since NSLDS removed a deduction to an Aid Recipient’s Outstanding Balance, Aggregate Loan Totals generally increased. Thus, schools are currently receiving revised ISIRs for the 2023-24 Award Year containing accurate and current Aggregate Loan information. Users should contact the NSLDS Customer Support Center at 1-800-999-8219 or [email protected] for questions about this or other NSLDS issues." According to the U.S. Department of Education (ED), NSLDS is providing the following guidance to impacted schools receiving these updated Institutional Student Information Records (ISIRs) with new aggregate loan balances: "If schools have already fully disbursed a student’s loans for the academic year, and they now learn that as a result of this NSLDS error the students inadvertently exceeded an annual or aggregate loan limit, no action is required unless the students now want to receive additional Direct Loans or other Title IV aid. In that case, affected students would have to reaffirm any loan amounts received in excess of the applicable loan limit before they can receive further Title IV aid. Whether or not the students could receive additional Direct Loan funds would depend on individual student circumstances. For example, an undergraduate student who exceeded the $23,000 subsidized loan aggregate limit due to the NSLDS error would not be eligible for additional subsidized loans as an undergraduate, but might have remaining unsubsidized eligibility.” Reference guidance under "Overpayments Created By Inadvertent Overborrowing and Repayments" in Volume 4 of the FSA Handbook, as well as Dear Colleague Letter GEN-13-02.
