You’re starting a small business. What project management tools do you need?
Agility and low-cost are important for small businesses. Locking yourself into a large enterprise subscription or something that’s complex with prices that fluctuate dramatically, can crush a business. Keep it simple. Even a spreadsheet can do the project management job for a while until you grow - but something in the cloud can be extremely useful and helpful so long as there’s good support, a reasonable cost, scalable functionality for multiple team, members, and simplicity of use.

You’re starting a small business. What project management tools do you need?
One of the most important aspects of project management software, especially one that offers automations or other features that may speed up your project management processes, is whether or not they have good customer support. Do you find yourself calling a large corporation to figure out how to use the software or work through a bug and find that you can’t get a hold of anybody? Perhaps they escalate it to senior level people, and it can take days or weeks to get an answer. That’s unacceptable for a small, agile business. You need excellent customer support and that’s why we would recommend Monday.com, because of that specific reason. We also use Lucid Spark to brainstorm as a group online. It’s a very simple platform that anybody can use.

You’re starting a small business. What project management tools do you need?
How long will it take you to teach your project management software to your employees? Another factor consider is how easy it is to adopt and spread the new platform to the entire team. Simplicity is super important when considering the usability of a project management platform.
-
You’re starting a small business. What project management tools do you need?
In my experience businesses need a way to organize projects, including all of the documents and communications from clients. We use Monday.com because of the ease of use, functionality, and cost. Whatever you use, centralization of data is key.

Abstract: Lockdowns during the pandemic created many challenges for quality control and design professionals in the construction industry. It was a common practice to travel to project sites and perform punch walks to better understand construction progress and issues that arose from day-to-day activities. Seeking a solution during a time when travel was limited or simply not possible, our team became very creative – drawing from experiences with historical preservation in 2012, we developed a workflow and a software platform called RESolute that facilitated high-resolution imagery to be viewed remotely in a virtual tour format on the cloud. In this presentation, Paul Tice will present how this workflow was developed, standardized for a rapid turn-around, and adopted by the AEC sector to view project sites remotely with high resolution. -

How point clouds are making a better virtual reality
3D Printing Industry
The evolution of 3D scanning could one day make 3D modeling obsolete. It should be possible to assign metadata to each point with said data hosted perhaps as IP’s in the IoT. And, if that’s possible, then we at ToPa believe that one day, component and mesh modeling will be antiquated because intelligent models of the future will be composed of pure point cloud data.
-
Ultra-Intelligent Point Clouds
SPAR 3D
If we have point clouds that are precisely classified with unique identifiers, we would have greater precision with the metadata as it relates to the acquired geometry...this means we could easily assign each point with its own IP address, allowing us to treat it as a device on the internet of things (IoT), and a unique Internet location for information-storage purposes.
