U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF)'s #SSI (Self-Sovereign ID) grant aims to improve the cryptographic procedures and applications for generating, storing, and managing Internet users’ digital identities. Backed by a two-year, $173,852 NSF grant, computer scientist Nikolay (Nick) Ivanov, assistant professor in the Department of Computer Science at Rowan University’s College of Science & Mathematics and director of the Research Laboratory for Advanced Cyber Systems and Usable Security, is conducting the first systematic study of the usability of Self-Sovereign digital identities’ (SSDIs) interactions, and to develop the first comprehensive inventory of these protocols. #SelfSovereignIdentity #DecentralizedIdentity #DigitalPrivacy #DigitalEquity The planned research aims to advance the SSDI field through a multi-phased approach focusing on usability and on the development of practical communication protocols. A two-stage study involving human subjects is poised to identify usability issues within the SSDI lifecycle, guiding the creation of a detailed inventory of SSDI communication protocols. These protocols cover account management, authentication, authorization, certification, revocation, data provenance, non-repudiation, transactions, multi-party signatures, voting, delegation, one-time access tokens, public key infrastructure (PKI), data oracles, and zero-knowledge data storage and retrieval. The developed protocols will form the basis of the framework that will feature an application programming interface (API) and tools for effective SSDI management. 🏔 Had a great chat with Daphné Leprince-Ringuet and Robert Sutor about the future of quantum, scaling capital in Europe, and how we are moving into the next phase of quantum computing. The title is provocative 🚀 - ‘Quantum computing is taking longer than going to the moon’: Ex-IBM exec Robert Sutor on Europe’s quantum computing startups 🌙 - but the key point is that building good Quantum Processing Units (QPUs) of ~1000s of qubits each IS the absolutely critical foundation, but sadly cannot get us all the way there, and that, just like with the space programme, new technologies and approaches such as Nu Quantum 's networking technology are urgently needed if we want to avoid slowing down or failing. I find this development of Nvidia chips being used as collateral absolutely fascinating. Whether this makes the whole ecosystem more or less fragile depends on many other things...But for now, this development reads as a powerful endorsement for Nvidia and gives whole new meaning to the term circular economy

So as AI disrupts search we will see more of these. So in this example they have a AI search portal with a ton of LLMs behind. So I guess there must be some AI figuring out which AI to engage 🤫 Once the search also allows actions the traditional ad ridden search engines will be in deep trouble

DARPA is launching a program to sift through quantum computing hype > “Our opening position is skepticism," stated Dr. Joe Altepeter, the DARPA program manager of the project, in a blog about QBI. "Specifically, skepticism that a fully fault-tolerant quantum computer with a sufficient number of logical qubits can ever be built." > > ”We will walk into the room and say, 'We're pretty sure whatever you're doing is not going to work.' I will bring a small army of scientists and engineers, we will listen to your evidence, and we will double and triple check using our own analysis," Altepeter wrote. The work that Anthropic is doing to unravel the black-box nature of #LLMs is brilliant, foundational, and highly commendable. They are addressing a key challenge in any neural network -- explainability. Not only can this research lead to safer and more-accurate models, but the ability to explain WHY a model generated a specific response is critical in many regulated industries. Bravo!

Great overview of 3 powerful LLM development frameworks. I think langchain is the most mature but I do like the embedded sub-chat capabilities of autogen.
