In this week's Barbershop Whispers....Russia, I discuss Russia's de-dollarization in cross-border trade. Cross-border settlements in national currencies—Rubles, Rupees, and Yuan—are now routine in Russian international trade. In practice and by example, Russia is leading the Global South de-dollarization movement. Western sanctions have accelerated the Kremlin’s de-dollarization drive, and it finds support through collaboration from other sanctioned countries and emerging opportunistic sovereign trading partners.  While the movement is gaining traction and volume, the US Dollar's value proposition of global acceptance, liquidity, and convertibility remains strong. Hamster Kombat $HMSTR Price Prediction What Could Be the Listing Price? The #Ton ecosystem is heating up, and one of its most anticipated mini-apps, Hamster Kombat (HMSTR), is set to make its debut in the #cryptocurrency market on Sept. 26, 2024. The buzz around the game is undeniable, especially with a partnership that includes a listing on Binance, one of the biggest crypto exchanges. To top it off, the platform is celebrating its launch with a massive airdrop of 100 billion tokens to early users. With Hamster Kombat already boasting impressive numbers—300 million players, a YouTube channel with 36 million subscribers, and a 104-million-member Telegram group—the hype is real. But with all eyes on the launch, many are wondering: What could be the listing price for $HMSTR? Let’s compare $HMSTR with two other similar projects, Notcoin ($NOT) and Catizen ($CATI), both of which offer some insight into where $HMSTR might be headed. 1.Notcoin ($NOT): Notcoin ($NOT) is the first "Tap to Earn" project launched by the Ton Foundation team. It has a total supply of 102 billion tokens, with over 80% of the supply distributed through an airdrop during the Token Generation Event (TGE). On its first day, the project achieved a market cap of $700 million and a fully diluted valuation (FDV) of $900 million. The initial price of the token was listed at $0.0075. 2.Catizen ($CATI): Catizen ($CATI) is a solid project with SDK game implementation, supported by a good team and a well-structured roadmap. The total supply of tokens for Catizen is 1 billion, with a market cap of $270 million. Currently, 30% of the total supply is in circulation, and the token was launched at $0.88. The fully diluted valuation (FDV) for Catizen stands at $880 million. Final price predictions for Hamster Kombat ($HMSTR) suggest that the token's total supply will be 100 billion, with 63% (or 63 billion tokens) expected to be in circulation on launch day. The first day market capitalization is projected to be between $504 million and $567 million, while the fully diluted valuation (FDV) is estimated to range between $800 million and $900 million. Based on these figures, the expected price range for $HMSTR on its first day of trading is between $0.008 and $0.009 per token. Potential profits for CEOs holding 1,000 $HMSTR tokens, the expected value on launch day would be $8 - $9. If the project maintains steady growth over the next 3-4 months, this value could increase significantly. With the upcoming launch of Hamster Kombat, the $HMSTR token is shaping up to be one of the most exciting new assets in the Ton ecosystem. While price predictions are always subject to market dynamics, the estimated listing price of $0.008 - $0.009 gives us a promising outlook.

True everyone doesn't like inverted yield curves, which always indicate recessions. And the recent rally in long term CGBs may not be a result of speculation at all. What is more needed now is reflation, which will both normalize the curve and remove the RMB depreciation pressure. Manually lifting the 10y yields without a reflation expectation seems will cause higher funding cost for the economy, and a more inverted yield curve. Now it is more like a buying opportunity for long-term CGBs.

President Trump's announcement that the U.S. will impose tariffs on Mexican and Canadian products appears to aim at achieving two objectives: 1) Broadening the scope of negotiations, traditionally centered on trade, to include immigration, security, and drug-related issues. 2) Accelerating the scheduled review of USMCA, originally planned for 2026. If President Trump proceeds with imposing immediate and unilateral tariffs, it could escalate tensions and effectively "go nuclear" on USMCA. In response, Mexico and Canada might retaliate with tariffs on U.S. exports before revisiting the agreement. For instance, Mexico could target key U.S. products such as apples, potatoes, soybeans, wheat, steel, chemicals, and others. Mexico and Canada may not favor President Trump's approach, but they have successfully negotiated with him and should be prepared to navigate this process. Eager to see how these developments unfold and contribute to strengthening the North American business partnership among the three countries.
