Recruiting in the Data Consulting market, I've noticed that the most impactful areas and where the most successful clients operate in todays market is; data modernization. Recently, ON Data Staffing had the privilege of supporting a US Data Consultancy with the hiring process for a project focused on modernizing a client’s data infrastructure – transforming legacy systems into a scalable, cloud-based solution. When hiring Data Consultants for this project, my client & I weren’t just looking for technical qualifications. We sought out candidates who could effectively communicate the deeper purpose of data modernization to stakeholders – that it’s not just a tech upgrade but a strategic alignment of data capabilities with future goals. Through this hiring journey, I personally recognized that data modernization goes beyond just staying competitive. According to Staffing Industry Analysts The US, the largest three IT staffing firms are TEKsystems, Insight Global and Innova Solutions. These three combined to generate $8.7 billion in US IT staffing revenue in 2023 (23% of the US IT staffing market), according to the Largest IT Staffing Firms in the United States: 2024 Update report. Sixty-six firms appear on the list with all having revenue greater than our US cutoff of $100 million. Despite obvious challenges in the industry, these company still qualified for this list. 2024 may prove even stronger for IT staffing firms.
