My rumor-mongering is officially something that's happening. This will be a great option for folks either currently looking at Aqueon or using (or OEM Cisco Campaign Management), migrating from premise to Webex Contact Center or just looking for a simpler, more user-friendly integration than Aqueon provided. We are focusing on telephony today, but if omni-channel is needed we can build those on top of Webex CPaaS Solutions or WxCC Digital Channels

So why should I use OpenShift AI?… 🙋‍♂️ There are definitely a lot of options and opinions out there on data science, model training, inference, and LLMs. You might ask: 🤔What makes OpenShift AI special? 🧐 What does Red Hat bring to the table? Here are four takeaways that resonated with me from my deep-dive into this “new” technology this week. (Many features have been around for a while we just rebranded it 😉 ) 🗄️ Data Proximity : Runs where your data is. Don’t force your data into the cloud. Run at the edge if you need to. Keep a consistent experience regardless of execution location. 🔐 Secure Notebooks : Make sure the libraries and packages your data scientists are using are vetted. Python/Jupyter is flexible but are you confident what’s being used is secure? 🏎️ Rapid Onboarding : Whether you’re new to AI or standing up new capabilities, OpenShift AI gets you up and running quickly with prescriptive and flexible integrations. 🏋🏼‍♂️Pipeline Maturity: Avoid the “it works in my notebook” problem and deploying unproven models to production. Add MLOps and DevSecOps maturity to your data science pipelines and testing/promotion processes. There are many benefits and features, but these are the four areas that seemed the most compelling to me this week as I dug into the product with our Architects and Consultants. Here's an excellent post by Brantley Coile, a programmer with 45 years of experience — always thinking, debugging, learning, sharpening his skills, reading other people's code — doing the hard work for hours on end. Respect. Some thoughts come to mind that I've posted before ... 1. Software Engineering as I was taught in the 1970s and practiced in the 1980s-90s doesn't seem to exist anymore‼️ 2. Google Cloud accidentally nukes customer account and causes two weeks of downtime. This is a valuable lesson in operational controls and risk mitigation. Remember three copies is required for a true backup because two is one and one is none. That philosophy saved UniSuper from the potentially business-ending event. There are many takeaways here, and a big chunk of them boil down to "don't put all your eggs in basket". They differ in how you define the basket First, you need to have copies of your data and code in multiple independent places. Independent is the key word here. It's not just a different location, and it's not just a different provider. Look at all the interconnections, including authentication, credential storage, and even how the bill is paid. Are there any common factors that could a compromise or failure could destroy all copies of your data? You at least need 1 independent immutable copy of your data. Second, you need to take a hard look at your outage tolerance. There's a sharply decreasing risk of outage as you go from single instance to multiple availability zone to multiple regions to multiple providers. It's very rare for a provider-wide outage to happen, but can you tolerate that risk? The provider-wide outage in this story is probably the worst case, complete global data loss. Think about that for a bit, and then think about the cost of building a multi-cloud or hybrid-cloud solution. Put some cost numbers on an outage and recovery like that and the cost to build a multi-provider solution. Like everything else in technology, it'll be easier, faster and cheaper to build a multi-provider solution the earlier you start on it, particularly before you many design decisions that are tied to a single provider. https://lnkd.in/ebJ52ubF?

Hey everyone! In my last post about cloud networking vs. traditional data centers and being a trusted advisor vs. just a seller, a few folks reached out asking, “Igor, what did you mean?” Well, let me break it down. Cloud networking isn’t all that different. It’s just done right. Remember the days of the VMware stack with vSwitch or dVS? Back then, the advice from VMware SEs and SAs was that we could solve everything with vMotion, even in active/active data centers designs. Hmmm did some used parallel so called swimming lanes - i.e. 2 parallel application stacks? They preached, “Just use vMotion,” and unfortunately a lot of people believed it. Stretching L2 domains across DCs? We all know the disasters that caused. But in the cloud, there are no L2 domains. Why? Because applications are finally done right. I don’t worry about IP address changes anymore—thanks to dynamic FQDN. This should’ve been the norm all along, even in traditional environments. Fast forward to today. So, Microsoft Ignite is over for this year (still listening through the backlog of keynotes and other presentations) and I must say, I was positively surprised to see so many new announcements and key features, that it'll take me a while to actually ingest it all. One of the biggest features besides AI being integrated on almost everything is the new Copilot collaboration for teams that brings many possibilities on how to work as a team and truly collaborate. Formerly this had to be done in a separate quick messaging app or even through mail (which is the slower option, albeit has the capability on bigger text structures and pictures/diagrams). Also very keen on seeing Azure growing to be a wholesome option and also integrating on-premise hardware through #AzureArc even better. Fact is that some organizations still need to have at least some of their data stored on-premise (usually either government/defense industry or R&D). Making this integration as fluid as possible gives these organizations many more possibilities to operate, which is always the better option. It's a win-win for both sides. As Microsoft products dominate the Finnish corporate and government workspace it seems that Microsoft is ready to bolster that lead even further.
