“Nick is a close friend at Jesuit High School in Tampa where myself and my 2 sons graduated. He is smart, personable and works hard to get the job done. I was president of the Dads Club twice at Jesuit when I interfaced with Nick. He often walked the tricky line of trying to please the alumni/parents and Dads Club officers along with the President of the school. Under the current President with Nick in his new role as Development director, the school has made more strides in the last few years than in the last few decades.”

Who’s Who Among Students is one of the most highly regarded and long-standing honors programs in the nation, having earned the overwhelming respect of college faculties and administrations. And for the students – the outstanding campus leaders of the year – national recognition by the Who’s Who program marks a pinnacle of scholastic achievement. Selections to Who’s Who Among Students are made each fall by individual schools. Campus nominating committees, created to nominate the upper-classmen and graduate students eligible for the program, are composed of representatives from the faculty, administration and student body. This procedure of nomination succeeds in highlighting the individual and diverse service to community and school. These are the students who enhance the positive image of the American students through their contributions to community and school. Because curricular and extracurricular programs at schools vary greatly, each college is assigned a quota of nominees. This quota is carefully calculated to ensure a well-rounded representation of the student body. All nominations must be endorsed by a college’s faculty or administration.

A Seminole Torchbearer carries on the Legacy of Leadership – the sum total of the difference that a leader makes in people’s lives – that was acquired while attending The Florida State University. It is this leadership legacy that is the foundation upon which our great university was built and is exemplified by a Seminole Torchbearer.
The Seminole Torchbearers in 1986 began formally recognizing those alumni who were student leaders during their time on campus. Since then, over 5,500 alums have been inducted into this prestigious group. Today, under the direction of Vice President for Student Affairs, Dr. Amy Hecht, that group has expanded to recognize current students. Each year approximately 200 junior and senior student leaders are invited to join this elite group.
The Seminole Torchbearers is governed by a Board of Directors, made entirely of Torchbearer members from across the country. Board members continue this Legacy of Leadership by being prestigious leaders in their communities. In addition to recognizing student leaders, the Board of Directors serves as the primary fundraising board for the Vice President for Student Affairs. -
