CHRO: From Rearguard to Vanguard - demystifying AI
I had the pleasure of hosting a group of industry leading CHROs and HR leaders in my CHRO: From Rearguard to Vanguard series. This series focusses on my belief AI provides the next step change in helping HR leaders move from Administrators/Enforcer roles, beyond Strategic Partners, to Transformative Leaders delivering impactful organization-wide change. (Hence, Rearguard TO Vanguard).
In my inaugural instalment, I spoke about AI for organization-wide Productivity and Engagement, the 2nd AI as a personal assistant. In this instalment, how AI can become a personal HR Advisor to each employee, in partnership with our SAP Success Factors partners.
What a fantastic day at EY wavespace™! I explored two fundamentally existential, pervasive questions. 1. Will AI completely replace humans in the workplace?
The AI-Employee Alliance I previously spoke in optimising AI with Practical Intelligence of Humans (social, emotional, etc) for better People Performance that leads to improved Business Outcomes. By this definition, AI won’t replace humans but complement each other for optimized outcomes.
In the modern age, AI have moved from taking over transactional activities like CV screening and personalized learning recommendations to higher value chain activities. With functionalities like multimodal sentiment analysis, can AI advise managers to be more effective coaches? And even help employees get promoted faster?
In our demo segment, SAP solution specialist Emily Woo demonstrated just how embedded AI functionalities can help.
Question: 2. What do you think is the transformative potential of AI in HR? This sparked insightful breakout group discussions on how HR leaders are currently deploying AI in their HR functions, applying AI in future, challenges to achieve these aspirations, requirements to get there. General consensus: potential is immense, but the devil lies in the details of implementation. Since AI is the unavoidable all-permeating topic in vogue amongst top leaders today, the question is where and how People leaders can most effectively implement AI for optimal organization-wide impact. At EY, my team and I have a ready approach that can help you do just that.
To everyone who joined us, thank you! To answer many of your questions, the next instalment might (or not) be unveiled at our upcoming EY CHRO Summit event on 28th November 2024, but for those interested I will be speaking again on this topic. Sign up or let me know if you are interested to join!
