That’s very accurate. PE Buyout Funds. Publicly traded parent companies with corporate VC arms scooping up the most profitable sector-specific subsidiaries. Fund of Funds get more popular and much more strategic. Family Offices dominate the landscape. Not investment advice.

An important op-ed from our CMO Saurabh Gombar in STAT. As AI and other analytic tools race to the bedside he has become increasingly concerned that "rates" or "analytics" without any even basic statistical backing are being presented as "Evidence" to doctors for using one treatment over another. It strikes me that #pharma folks may be unaware that these tech companies are essentially telling doctors not to use their product without going through the same rigorous approach to evidence generation they go through every day for the FDA and in medical and #heor publication work. I think it is simple, if you are making care or treatment recommendations you must use proper design and statistical methodology, present your results and methods transparently, and offer a transparent review of your data quality. #realworldevidence #decisionsupport

A lot of conversation around #AI could feel repetitive, but luckily for us, MIT Sloan Management Review has recently delivered us brand new research and insights into how to effectively utilize #generativeAI: including how to optimize performance and productivity with AI, and importantly, how to set reasonable #sustainability goals and build discovery groups to promote #diversity in the workplace! The article goes a lot more in-depth than my short post could do justice — including lists of upcoming trends and technological shifts to be mindful of in 2024, as well as a webinar series by MIT Sloan lecturer George Westerman that aims to demystify and contextualize the role of AI in near-future. Definitely give this a read when you have some time. I’ve been arguing that ultimately, AI is a tool not unlike a calculator — new technology will feel less scary and disruptive once we have had time to fully understand it. These reports prove my point, and even just one full year into the big AI boom, we have a model of #ethical and #sustainable rules to set as a precedent for the future. How do you feel about this? This article could not come at a better time for me and my fund (Danta Fund ). After attending a recent Summit where I felt the industry of #startups and #vc has become too generalist and differentation is hard to find, I now know to include Danta Fund as (per the article below) a " Non-Consensus Alpha". 💪 It sounds pretentious, yes, but the description fits sooo well. Danta Fund is a specialized #agtech fund that provides #smartmoney to our founders. We are not only writing checks: we CONNECT, we MENTOR, we BUILD. 💥 As a recent colleague from another specialized Non-Consensus Alpha emerging fund told me (Andres Baehr from SAVIA Ventures ): we, specialized emerging funds need to find a way to thrive among the sea of VCs.
