Animating with Cascadeur: Physics-based animation software is pretty wild. That’s 8 keyframes there. The one on the right is my first rough animation “Keyframe prompt” and the green dude on the left is the interpretation.

Maya Attribute Options tool.! Newest addition to my personal tool set. Took me a few days to write it on and off. This tool helps me to re-order attributes without having to re-do the incoming/outgoing connections. Some options are still a work in progress... #reorder #attributes #mel #maya #tools #rigging

Another great resource for level design and #gameart is Dimensions.com. It’s a database with common measurements and construction terminology used for everyday objects, buildings, trees, etc. A goldmine of information!

🔥 Have you tried making a Photoscan Material and got some unwanted lighting in your Base Color? 🎇 This is the tool you need in Substance Designer, Luminance Highpass node. It Cancels out lighting information by performing a highpass on the input's Luminance value. Useful for fixing photographed textures with lighting information. NetBramha Studios: A Masterclass in How NOT to Hire I’ve seen some bad hiring processes, but NetBramha Studios just set a new low. After they reached out to me for a graphic designer role, they rejected me based on a 5-minute phone call. That’s right—5 minutes. No task, no real assessment—just a quick call, like they had some divine vision from God telling them not to hire me. Seriously? It's common sense that not everyone is going to be fully prepared to be some superstar in an impromptu call. And if you're judging a designer without even letting them design, you’re clearly not doing your job right. How do you call yourself a top-tier company with such lazy hiring practices? I’m not here crying over a rejection—those happen, and I get it. But it’s laughable when a company jumps to conclusions without any real effort to assess skills. If you’re going to reject someone, at least give them a task first so you have something to base your decision on. And hey, Raghav from your team, a little advice: get your act together. 🔥 Substance Designer Quick-Tip: If you were looking for a way to make a procedural tilling wall, where you mix two different Patterns this is how you can do it: 🥇 Create 2 Tile Generators with a scale of 1, and a Random Value in Interstice x. Set the node to Max Mode and the Luminance Random to 0.5. Be sure each of them has different values in their X/Y. 🥈 Use a Blend node in Copy mode to mix these two patterns. Use a shape node connected to a Transform node which is set to "Not Tilling", and place the middle circle in the Lower edge of the image frame. Extra HUD Toolbox for Maya - Free Hotfix 8 Sergey requested that we should have the ability to show if the preserve UVs feature is turned on or off. I've added this to the Extra HUD Toolbox as requested. If you're not familiar with this tool, it allows you to toggle HUD elements on and off for a bunch of things Maya can't display by default: -Working Units -Up Axis -Number of Selected Items -Assigned Materials Names Per Face -Active UV Set Name -Preserve UVs On/Off -Project Location -Time Since Last Save -Time Since Last Auto Save -Tool Axis Transform Space -Camera Distance -Camera Based Selection On/Off See below for full release notes. 🚀 Sci-Fi Detailing: Trim Sheets & Decals 🛸 Continuing with my sci-fi environment series, here’s a look at how I added intricate details to my Unreal Engine scene! 💡 After refining the mesh, I created a trim sheet model in Maya, finalizing the details before baking them into normal maps, ID, and occlusion. With the UVs set, I then used decals to bring extra detail to life, even repurposing the trim sheet textures for the decals. I’m passionate about building immersive, sci-fi worlds and am always inspired by the incredible work of studios like Frontier Developments Foundry 42 Ltd and Wargaming . Are you struggling to get your fist job as animator in the industry? You send 100 plus application and not even a single interview? Been looking for a job for more than a year and you are demoralize because the industry is in a bad place? Listen here: -when i was 19 i study 2d animation for 3 years, after I graduate i could not get a job because objectively i was not good enough and 2d was getting replace by 3d - I then decide to learn 3d by my self because I had no more money to study with a school -I had to learn 3dsmax with a book because..well youtube didn`t exist yet -after 2 years of learning modeling, texture and rig i start to get some very small job as generalist that pay peanuts - I had to do other jobs not related to animation to get extra income -after 3 years of study by myself I enrolled to Animaiton Mentor -after 18 months i finish the school, send 80 plus email and no job because once again i was not good enough -got a private mentor to study 6-9 months and get a better reel, (all of this while still working a bit as non animator) and only after that I manage to get a job in my first AAA project was I the only exception? absolutely not. a lot of people struggle like me some give up, some persevere, some get a job sooner bottom line I think took me overall more than 6 years to get into the industry, plenty of mistake. is not easy now, it wasn't easy 15 years ago, yes times are different obviously, now you have a lot more resource, far more company making games or movie, more easy to connect.. but then a lot more competitions be an artist is hard, especially at the very beginning, my first teacher told me that.
