The Extended Tire Features for Vehicle Dynamics Blockset™ provides a set of tools to work with tire data and integrate tire models into vehicle simulations. Tire data describes the operating conditions of a tire, and tire models describe tire behavior with mathematical models. Calculating the tire responses requires both tire models and tire data. Waymo to add Hyundai EVs to robotaxi fleet under new multiyear deal 🌏 Hyundai Motor and Waymo have agreed to a multiyear, strategic partnership that includes the self-driving company adding the South Korean automaker’s Ioniq 5 electric vehicle to its robotaxi fleet. Initial on-road testing with Waymo-enabled Ioniq 5s will begin by late 2025, and they are expected to become available to Waymo One robotaxi riders in the years to follow, the companies said. * Ride-hailing drivers will be Disrupted by Technology, Artificial Intelligence with Autonomy 🤖

A few years ago, I developed an ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System) device for my car, which led to a lot of people asking why I didn’t go further and build a full autopilot system. Instead of explaining individually, here are my main reasons: Legal Concerns: I’m not sure if implementing a full autopilot system on my car would comply with UK laws and regulations. I didn’t come to the UK to risk breaking any laws, so this was a key factor in sticking with ADAS rather than autopilot. Sensor Limitations: To achieve autopilot, I initially planned to use four LIDAR sensors. However, sourcing high-accuracy LIDAR at a reasonable cost was nearly impossible. For example, Tesla likely uses high-grade LIDAR, accurate up to 10 meters and capable of reaching 100 meters. But I don’t have access to Tesla’s hardware specs or control protocols. The affordable LIDAR I could source, costing around £20 per sensor, had poor accuracy (less than 1 meter) and limited range (barely reaching 5 meters)—not nearly reliable enough for safe autopilot use. Cost Constraints: Developing the prototype already set me back over £3,000, not including my own time and labor. As an independent R&D developer, that’s a big investment, especially considering that a basic ADAS device can be bought for under £300 on the market. It’s hard for me to showcase the range of R&D skills I bring to the table, as my background and experience are mostly in mobile application development. But the truth is, I’m an all-around developer and engineer: frontend, backend, security, embedded software, electronics, circuit schematics, PCB layout, and even 3D printing are all within my expertise. Unfortunately, people often overlook this versatility, which has left me feeling a bit sad and disappointed at times.
