What are the best methods for identifying areas of strength in performance evaluations?
1. Clarity of Expectations always comes first. Big fan of the concepts from the book "The Advantage" by Patrick Lencioni. Always great to answer the 6 critical questions he outlines and tailor this to smart goals by role. 2. Absolutely have a compelling scorecard made up of specific lead and lag performance metrics. This should always be visible and reviewed at least weekly during 1:1s. Waiting for QBRs is too late to catch performance related issues and areas for development. 3. Operationalize "self-assessment" at least quarterly based on the above points. Competency models (learn/apply), performance scorecard, root cause analysis must be incorporated and systematic. 4. Gather feedback (internally, cross-functionally and externally)
