My research examined the multiple points of entry that youth development professionals come into this work and the levers necessary based on this knowledge to engage individuals in making youth development a career of choice.

My work explored and reviewed related fields and the professional identity frameworks that have evolved over time in the fields of education, social work and healthcare; and the positive impact intentional professional identity development in a field can have for individuals, programs and the stabilizing effect positive professional identity can have on the field at large.

My work led to the design of a rubric on professional identity for youth development; focusing on the knowledge, experience and vocation that makes up the field identity and allows for multitiered approaches to develop in all these areas of the work.

R.E.S.P.E.C.T find out what it means to me: Working with Adolescent African American Girls. This research evolved out of a workshop created by the University of Minnesota, Extension Center for Youth Development Community Design Team. This work is a literature review of promising and best practices intended to bridge research into practice at the point of service in programming and in classrooms. The research focuses on the role of family and community in the lives of African American Girls, focusing both on historical trauma to resiliency factors. Additionally the development of African American girls is explored through the lens of black feminist literature and phenomologically (in their own words).

As a contributing consultant for the Youth Coordnating Board (YCB), Out of School Time (OST) Citywide Intermediary Planning Team, I had three main responsibilities; lead national research, lead community engagement, contribute input into final planning report and recommendations. I worked with the great team of Marcela Sotela and Laura Lacroix Dalluhn. The project culminated in a presentation and approval from the full Youth Coordinating Board's appointed officials.

    Project Elements Completed: On Time
In this this project, I completed researching and analyzing citywide models and interviewing national leaders on the core functions of their intermediary. I successfully presented recommendations to the YCB Leadership Advisory and recieved the green light for our Minenapolis exploratory framework phase through community engagement.

    Project Element Completed: On Time
In this project I co-created, facilitated and collated responses from over 18 Community Engagement sessions in all 13 of Minneapolis' wards. The focus of these meetings was to examine how to best support OST programs and the direct service youth workers, supervisors and directors that work with young poeple on a daily basis through a citywide suystem or intermediary. We also engaged with multiple youth programs to get input from youth with a variety of experiences and needs.

    Project Element in Process:
In this project I continually work with our team to convene members and representatives of minneapolis' four Juristictions represented on the YCB to keep them engaged and abreast of the process and progress.
