It's intriguing that B2B CMOs tend to have longer tenures compared to their B2C counterparts, with 4.5 years versus 4.0 years respectively. This difference likely reflects the distinct challenges and market dynamics each sector faces. The study also highlights the increasing trend of CMOs taking on broader responsibilities and the significant number of first-time CMOs being promoted internally, suggesting a strong emphasis on leadership development and succession planning within organizations. It is great to see that women now represent half of Fortune 500 CMOs. Thanks Lisa Landsman for chatting about the value of reviews to small businesses. A fun fact from our discussion: 70% of online experiences start with a search. That says a lot about today's consumer buying journey. As you stated, sometimes people know what they are looking for and sometimes they don't. Reviews and star ratings help shape consumer decisions. Thanks to Google for all they do to give small businesses a playing field in today's market. Take a minute to leave a review, it makes a difference!

When assessing a team, I typically find efficiency gaps. Because my background has been in tech with agile teams, I always look to solve these gaps with agile processes, tools, and team structures. My brain works in efficiencies so I can't unsee these gaps, or leave the team to struggle. Of all the tips in this article, the most important one is 'talk to your teams'. Whether business is slow or fast, talk to your teams first. This week I read an interesting article in Ad Age on pop-up events, and strategies that organizations are using to reach Gen Z. Gillian Follett explores a few different trending brands that are leading the charge in using pop-ups to build brand communities. Follet writes, "In recent months, a growing number of brands have sharpened their focus on pop-ups and other brand activations, adopting a two-pronged experiential strategy: giving Gen Z consumers the in-person experiences they want and turning those activations into social media moments with the help of influencers." The point is, Gen Z is craving community and interaction, and not just online.
