The changing donor landscape is something many nonprofits are beginning to adapt their strategies toward. While bigger donors are becoming more concentrated, there are still numerous opportunities to engage smaller donors, especially those who usually don't donate to nonprofits. There are so many people who want to change the world for the better, and in many cases, reaching these inactive donors is a question of communication and community work. #Nonprofit #Leadership #Finance

The White House Leadership Development Program featured me today on their LinkedIn channel. #WHLDP highlights my many years of service to the public, a role I continue in my newest endeavor. My life’s work has been to foster collaborations and lead solutions to address systemic poverty, to spark growth in divested areas, and to improve the quality of living for all communities across the US, territories and in tribal areas. A key feature of this work has been the idea of giving voice to the people experiencing the challenges to have a say in crafting the solutions — along with the bright minds of policymakers, academics and others. #CommunityAction Hailing from the #MSDelta which is where I spent my formative years, I saw firsthand the challenges of rural life and the resource vacuum left by the transition from heartland industry to technology hubs outside of these former economic centers. — Families with limited incomes face tough choices of shelter over life-saving care and meds. — Divested areas often have a hard time attracting and retaining medical facilities and personnel. — Resources present challenges in incentivizing new economy companies to invest in areas with less means that could bring living wages. — Such areas, too, are often so-called food deserts with a dearth of resources for fresh produce and nutrient rich foods. — The transportation infrastructure needed to access the exurbs for jobs or basic life activities are another part of this complex concern. In my time with the #WHLDP, I look forward to working with my colleagues at the Executive Office of the President at the center of public affairs to continue to this important work, and to support the engagement of the public toward improved outcomes for all.
