TA TIP- *Alignment* When I speak to a potential new team member during the phone interview stage, I ask them one important question that can change the trajectory of the interview. "What are the most important things to you in your next position / company?" Then I listen, to see if what they truly need to be fuffilled at work, is aligned with what we have to offer in the position/company. Most of the time their needs align with what the role and comany offer, and other times, I have to highlight a potential misalignment and end the conversation on a positive note. My role as a TA professional is not to fill a seat, it's to find alignment. Trying to fit a square peg into a round hole is not only detrimental to the candidate and employee experience, it also contribues to turnover and job disatisfaction in a major way. I encourage all TA Professionals to help the candidate pool find alignment over meeting a quota. #TAtips #Recruitment #Alignment #HRBestPractices

HOT TAKE on this Friday but I truly feel for my candidates and this has become an increasing problem. Please stop saying "open to ANY time zone" if you are going to reject someone not in yours! As a Recruiter I send over the most qualified talent for the role and it has become increasingly upsetting to have to deliver the news to a candidate that they weren't even considered when their resume is a carbon copy of the job description. IF you are a Hiring Manager and you only want applicants in a certain time zone, please just say that! This market is tough enough on candidates already. The Effect is getting the hopes up of INCREDIBLE talent in this market to then just let them down that you went with another candidate. PSA - if you go around an agency recruiter and we find out. We will notify the client and it will not reflect positively on you. It just won't. We (HireMoxie) share our client's name during the interview process. We specifically ask the candidate to agree to not reach out to them directly prior to sharing the information. 98% of the people are honorable and follow the process however, there is always the 2% that don't. They ghost us and then apply to the company directly or reach out to someone that works there. We work very closely with our clients and often find out when this happens and we do inform the client that you agreed to not reach out to them direclty. I know this market is so tough on folks looking for work and it can be tempting to try to circumvent the middle man but...if the client finds out, it isn't a good look. It will make them question your character. Don't blow an opportunity over something like this. It's not worth it.
