The proposal includes a significant increase in care quality incentive payments, almost doubling the maximum payment from $12.60 to $23.25 per resident per day. One of the key focuses of this proposal is on nursing home staffing levels, introducing new benchmarks under the Quality Incentive Payment Program. The program will now evaluate total nursing hours, staff retention rates, and efforts to prevent inappropriate weight loss. This move aligns with the recent federal staffing rule by CMS, prompting calls for additional funding nationwide. It's heartening to see New Jersey taking proactive steps to support nursing home providers in meeting these standards. While there's enthusiasm about these incentives, there are also discussions about the potential challenges, especially regarding additional costs and staffing requirements. However, this initiative reflects a commitment to improving resident outcomes and aligning with national care standards. Closing the Gap Foundation and BreatheStrong CF Join Forces to Offer "What’s Your Gap?" Grant Opportunities Closing the Gap Foundation, renowned for its commitment to supporting those living with cystic fibrosis (CF), and BreatheStrong CF, a leading advocate in the CF community, proudly announce their continued collaboration with the "What’s Your Gap?" Grant. This innovative initiative aims to empower individuals affected by CF to pursue wellness, providing them with financial support to bridge the monetary gaps in reaching their goals. The "What Your Gap" grant program is designed to alleviate the financial burden often faced by individuals with CF pursuing their extracurricular activities. Living with CF is expensive and there are rarely extraneous funds for nonessential living expenses. Through this collaboration, grants will be awarded to applicants who demonstrate a commitment to not letting CF limit their goals. "Closing the Gap Foundation is thrilled to continue our partnership with BreatheStrong CF to launch the 'What Your Gap' 2024 grant program," said Jake Reynolds, Co-Founder at Closing the Gap Foundation.
