We are thrilled to announce that WSFL-TV CH39 is now the Official Broadcast Partner of the Florida Panthers, The Stanley Cup Champions. The Stanley Cup champion Florida Panthers have signed a multi-year agreement with Scripps Sports to locally broadcast Panthers hockey free for residents of Miami/Fort Lauderdale, West Palm Beach and Fort Myers. In Miami/Fort Lauderdale, all locally produced games will air on WSFL-TV, channel 39. In West Palm Beach, all locally produced games will air on WHDT-TV, channel 9. In Fort Myers, Scripps Sports will announce the broadcast channel in advance of next season. Under this new agreement, The E.W. Scripps Company (NASDAQ: SSP) has the ability to televise all locally produced Panthers preseason, regular-season and round one games of the postseason with distribution on cable, satellite and over-the-air television, becoming the new home on television of Florida Panthers hockey. Financial terms will not be disclosed. The deal has obtained the necessary approvals from the National Hockey League. “After back-to-back Stanley Cup Final appearances and celebrating 30 years of Panthers Hockey in South Florida, we could not be more excited about the future of our hockey team. Scripps’ distribution network and accessibility makes them the ideal partner to stream and carry Panthers content on and off the ice,” said Panthers President and CEO Matthew Caldwell. “Panthers content will be available for free over the air and we are thrilled about the new homes this will reach as we continue to grow our great sport.” Scripps Sports and the Panthers will collaborate to launch a team-branded direct-to-consumer application with details to be announced prior to the 2024-2025 season. This direct-to-consumer application will be the destination for live streaming of all Scripps Sports-produced games throughout the team’s territory in South Florida. Additional details will follow. Scripps Sports, which is now home to the last two Stanley Cup champions, will be responsible for the production of the pregame, in-game and postgame shows. It's great to hear that Disney and DirecTV have reached a new distribution agreement: it allows DirecTV to offer Disney's streaming products, including Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+, and the new ESPN streaming service, as part of their packages. This is a significant step forward, giving customers more flexibility and access to premium content. However, I question DirecTV's focus on having the ability to package genre-specific bundles. Virtual MVPDs (Sling, Sony Vue, Hulu, YouTube) have already tried — and failed — to gain meaningful traction with "skinny bundles."  They didn't work because consumers aren't asking for non-sports, genre-specific bundles. What they need is a simple and economic way to *continue to watch* all of their favorite sports over streaming without paying an arm and a leg or juggling multiple subscriptions. The path forward for legacy media with respect to streaming bundles is fairly simple. Follow the path of least resistance, allowing distributors to package a **reasonably priced, ad-supported streaming bundle that incorporates all the sports rights from Disney, Fox, NBCU, Paramount, and Warner Bros. Discovery**. I call this bundle "FULLU" 😉 . The faster they do this, the quicker they will mitigate the effects of cord-cutting and audience erosion. Charter has made meaningful inroads securing distribution of all the ad-supported tiers of Disney, Paramount, and WBD streaming services. It still needs to do the same with Peacock and bring Fox sports into the fold. It requires a bit of a different approach than your traditional media outlets. Let me share some insights that can help you build authentic connections and make a real impact. Tuesday Morning (9-10) Tropical UPDATE…..In addition to Francine in the western Gulf of Mexico, we are watching two additional areas in the Atlantic Ocean. Here is the latest discussion from the National Hurricane Center… 1. Central Tropical Atlantic (AL92): An elongated area of low pressure located over the central tropical Atlantic continues to produce some disorganized shower and thunderstorm activity. Environmental conditions appear only marginally conducive for some slight development during the next couple of days, but a tropical depression could still form during that time while the system moves westward at 5 to 10 mph over the central tropical Atlantic. * Formation chance through 48 hours...medium...40 percent. * Formation chance through 7 days...medium...40 percent. 2. Eastern and Central Tropical Atlantic: A trough of low pressure located several hundred miles southwest of the Cabo Verde Islands is expected to interact and merge with a strong tropical wave located between the west coast of Africa and the Cabo Verde Islands over the next couple of days. Thereafter, Environmental conditions appear favorable for gradual development of this combined system, and a tropical depression will likely form during the latter part of this week while the system moves west-northwestward at 10 to 15 mph. * Formation chance through 48 hours...low...30 percent. * Formation chance through 7 days...high...70 percent.

In 1519, Spanish conquistador Hernán Cortés led 600 men to the coast of Mexico to conquer the Aztec Empire.   Upon arriving, Cortés realized his forces were vastly outnumbered by the Aztecs.   Fully committed to the mission and to eliminate any thoughts of retreat, Cortés ordered his ships to be burned.   Cortés removed the option of retreat and forced his men to fully commit to the mission ahead. The only way for his men to survive and return home was to win.   Where in your work or life are you feeling you may be at the point of no return?   Do you need to “burn the ships?”   What course of action do you need to take that will eliminate any possibility of retreat?
