Fast moving, to the point, and rooted in first-hand executive experiences, this book is for people of vision and action, and for creating the conditions required for growth, innovation, and increased competitive advantage.

Finance Unleashed is based on a series of interactive interviews with a diverse group of global influencers and executives, all of which will challenge readers to think laterally and find inspiration in the new role of finance. Cases and interviewees represent organizations such as UPS and DHL, and the London School of Economics, and approaches such as Lean Six Sigma, innovation, customer-centricity, the financial supply chain, and behavioral procurement. The authors’ goal is to serve as a catalyst for leaders who are positioned to make meaningful changes today.

The book includes a practical model to help executive teams redesign and refocus finance to drive business leadership - with an emphasis on the CFO. The model has three primary components: 1) Customer-Centricity - Listen and Map; 2) Process - Structure and Technology; and 3) Innovation - Create and Measure. These are presented as phases that each executive team will need to consider based on the goals and maturity level of their organization.

For the CFO and ambitious finance executives, Finance Unleashed presents a path forward towards success and career advancement. For the CEO and the board, it presents an expanded vision for what financial organizations are capable of.

Any book discussing the future of procurement must go beyond the mere recognition of this shift. To be truly useful, a book must also embrace the unique challenges of developing practical approaches to conditions that do not yet exist from a generational business perspective. It must also take into account the ripple effects of any changes, including but not limited to solution providers, analysts, associations, standards setting bodies, and news/opinion sites. In this book, we aspire to better understand the choices procurement professionals are faced with, both individually and as a collective group, and how the decisions that are made today will affect the trajectory of their careers and of the profession as a whole. Procurement at a Crossroads aspires to be the book that shows practitioners and the business community at large the impressive future that awaits if we are prepared to make smart, bold choices today.

  • The Procurement Revolution

The Procurement Revolution (September 26-30) is a 100% virtual, global, interactive, free event presented by Phil Ideson (Art of Procurement) and Kelly Barner (Buyers Meeting Point). They are presenting 5 days of audio, video, and articles split between live and on demand – and a whole lot of discussion. In fact, we’ve taken the typical 80/20 content to discussion ratio and flipped it. Most of our content is just 15 minutes long, which should leave lots of time for discussion.

This is the people’s revolution – there are no corporate sponsors, no registration fees, and the event is beholden to no one. The only priority for the week is to stimulate and engage in free and open discussion of the topics most important to procurement today.

The Procurement’s Revolution’s mantra is Stand Up, Speak Out, and Drive Change for a reason. We want as many voices and opinions reflected in The Revolution as possible. Ask questions, suggest new ideas, and share your perspective. Most of the discussion will take place on Twitter using the hashtag #ProcureRev.
