How can you build brand trust?
We are living in such a unique era when it comes to being a marketer. Some might view it as exhausting, bc of how quickly trends come & go, but I believe we have never had access to more organic trust-building opportunity in the history of marketing. Building brand trust takes time, but in today's world where consumers have never had this much direct contact with brands bc of social media, the most transparent brands are the ones winning. My favorite recent "building trust" story comes from a TikTok from MakeupByMario. A user made a video asking to see the viral foundation in REAL daylight & Mario himself stitched the video outside with no filters to show off the product. Seeing the founder be so transparent is simple, but SO effective.

How can authenticity improve your brand storytelling?
Speaking on this in terms of short-form video storytelling: authenticity wins. Gone are the days where showcasing your brand/product/service via repurposed highly-produced national ads wins. People want to follow people, not brands. They want to see the humans behind your brand, they want to know exactly who they are purchasing from. If you can master short-form storytelling & attract new customers by creating "Facetime-y," homemade content that doesn't feel staged & over-edited, you will quickly form a very loyal, attentive audience. When consumers feel like they are getting a peek behind the curtain for both brands that they already love, and new brands that the algorithm sent their way, they are much more likely to keep you top of mind.
