You're coaching an executive on feedback. How can you help them communicate constructively with their team?
This one does a lot of work in a few words: every meeting, have the exec reserve 5min at the end and ask these two questions in precisely these words: 1. What do I do that you really appreciate? 2. What do you wish I did differently? This flips the script to having the exec receive feedback, creating comfort for people who might later be recipients of it. It starts with something appreciative that leads to a strength, then seeks a potential shift in behavior rather than a criticism. Positive, focused leadership by example. The initial responses aren't always satisfying, but when you continue to ask the same questions every time, the quality of the feedback improves rapidly. And receptivity to receiving feedback from the exec increases

What are some common delegation mistakes and how can you avoid them?
Clarity matters. Conditions of satisfaction give a little basic structure to what’s delegated: what, by when, and by whom? What help do you need? What does good look like in this context? Ambiguous delegation is usually worse than none. Clarity gets the specifics right so people know how to succeed.
