As she’s navigated through the conflict of wanting to grow her career and not having the support she longed for, she thinks it’s important to share her best leadership principles 𝘏𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘢𝘳𝘦 5 𝘭𝘦𝘢𝘥𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘩𝘪𝘱 𝘢𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘴 𝘴𝘩𝘦 𝘧𝘰𝘭𝘭𝘰𝘸𝘴 𝘵𝘰 𝘣𝘦𝘴𝘵 𝘴𝘶𝘱𝘱𝘰𝘳𝘵 𝘩𝘦𝘳 𝘦𝘮𝘱𝘭𝘰𝘺𝘦𝘦𝘴 𝗕𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 ✨Focus on being someone your employees know will listen and will feel heard  ✨Don’t micromanage their time but do set clear expectations on what outcomes you need ✨Use 1:1s as a time for them to talk to you about areas they need answers on or if they need a safe space to unload. Don’t use these meetings to catch them offguard on something they are not prepared for 𝗕𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵𝘁𝗳𝘂𝗹 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗿𝗲𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄 𝗰𝘆𝗰𝗹𝗲𝘀 📈Don’t wait for a periodic review cycle to provide feedback an employee isn’t expecting, but rather continuously share feedback throughout the year. 📈Just as you provide feedback, take time to ask what’s going well and what’s not going well, ie “what can I be doing more and less of” or “how can I better support you?” 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗻 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗼 𝗺𝗼𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘀 🏅Understand that different factors motivate different people (salary, title, work/life balance, etc…) Seek to understand what motivates your employee. 🏅Partner with your employee to develop a plan that is aligned to their career goals with these primary drivers in mind. 🏅Validate their motivators at least annually. Just because someone had a certain primary motivator one year, doesn’t necessarily mean it will remain constant as they grow and evolve. 𝗨𝗻𝗹𝗼𝗰𝗸 𝗣𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗮𝗹 🌟Identify the characteristics and traits they have where there is potential to grow and add value to other areas of your team or business 🌟While your employee may not see themself as being strong in a particular skill, you may possess a better perspective and seek to guide them out of their comfort zone to give them confidence and realize their potential 🌟Make sure you aren’t throwing them into the deep end, but rather letting them “dip their toe in the water” and helping them understand its “safe” 𝗖𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗲𝘅𝘁 🙏Create clarity so that there’s at least an understanding for the way things are “here’s why I’m asking you to do this” or “here’s the business context around this and why we can’t accomplish this” 🙏When employees feel like they are heard/seen it helps maintain alignment and fuel motivation 🙏There’s tremendous value in continuously exercising your muscle around business context and balancing risk for employees

Do you have 100 million for a settlement? No, you don't! Lehigh Valley Network got hacked (look them up.) They say they didn’t pay a ransom and that the hack didn’t disrupt operations (who knows.) But then they got hit with a class action lawsuit from the people whose data was stolen. And they settled for $65 million. I’m curious, how much cash is in your bank right now? And if you have cyber insurance… Can it cover up to $100 million? Can you guarantee they’ll approve your claim? Insurance companies are denying claims left and right. In fact, they’re looking for any excuse to say you breached the “failure to maintain” clause in your policy. Are you sure you’ve met all your obligations as the insuree? Always check with your cybersecurity Insurance on how much you are covered, what are you covered for..etc. Just like any other types of insurance.
