Microsoft has officially announced the deprecation of Windows Server Update Services (WSUS). While WSUS will no longer receive new features or accept new feature requests, Microsoft will maintain its current functionality and continue publishing updates through the WSUS channel. This move aligns with Microsoft's vision for simplified Windows management from the cloud. Organizations are encouraged to transition to modern cloud-based tools like Windows Autopatch, Microsoft Intune, and Azure Update Manager for more efficient update management. #Microsoft #WSUS #CloudManagement #WindowsUpdate #TechNews

The path to IT and Data modernization in government is notoriously slow. Years of effort and millions of dollars and only a fraction of legacy IT debt is addressed with waterfall IT development projects.  It doesn’t have to be this way. The safe, rapid, and cost-effective migrations with Azure VMware Services (AVS) at Washington Labor & Industries (L&I), Washington Department of Transportation (WSDOT), Washington Department of Ecology (ECY), and State of Alaska highlight the new pattern for government. The impossible was made achievable by using Azure Vmware Services (AVS) to move entire IT environments (network, applications and data) together, and bypassing traditional barriers to cloud adoption, such as latency and performance. Azure Vmware Services (AVS) also allowed Washington Labor & Industries (L&I) to leverage current employee skill sets, while adopting new cloud skills. And it addresses gaps in the Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery (BCDR).   Further, L&I expects to reduce Total Cost of Ownership by 51%, with a 107% Return On Investment (ROI) and reduce the carbon footprint by 71%. License management will only be available through the GUI within the #Microsoft365 admin center. I suppose now is as good a time as any to think about moving to #PowerShell for your license management needs. To help get started, I've created a script to assign licenses to users and groups using the #MicrosoftGraph PowerShell SDK.
