Microsoft has officially announced the deprecation of Windows Server Update Services (WSUS). While WSUS will no longer receive new features or accept new feature requests, Microsoft will maintain its current functionality and continue publishing updates through the WSUS channel. This move aligns with Microsoft's vision for simplified Windows management from the cloud. Organizations are encouraged to transition to modern cloud-based tools like Windows Autopatch, Microsoft Intune, and Azure Update Manager for more efficient update management. #Microsoft #WSUS #CloudManagement #WindowsUpdate #TechNews

As part of our vision for simplified Windows management from the cloud, Microsoft has announced the deprecation of Windows Server Update Services (WSUS). This signifies a phase in the product lifecycle where a feature/service is no longer actively developed. There will be no new investments in capabilities or feature requests for WSUS, but continued support for existing functionalities and updates. It's essential to note that the removal of WSUS does not impact Microsoft Configuration Manager's existing capabilities and support. While the WSUS role will persist in Windows Server 2025, transitioning to cloud tools like Windows Autopatch, Microsoft Intune for client update management, and Azure Update Manager for server update management is recommended. #Microsoft #WindowsManagement #CloudServices #WSUSDeprecation #ITUpdates

In a significant move #microsoft has announced deprecation of Windows Server Update Services (#WSUS). #Deprecation is the stage of the product lifecycle when a feature or service is no longer in active development. Per the announcement, Windows Server Update Services is no longer actively developed, all the existing capabilities and content continue to be available for your deployments. In last 17-18 years, anyone who has been part of #EndUserManagement would have worked on WSUS with lot of stories to share :-). However, as we say, change is the only constant, with this move, Microsoft is recommending organizations using WSUS to transition to cloud tools, including #windowsautopatch, #MSIntune for client update management and #azureupdatemanager for server update management. https://lnkd.in/gxdqmB8t

As part of Microsofts vision for simplified Windows management from the cloud, Microsoft has announced deprecation of Windows Server Update Services (WSUS). So what does this actually mean ? Microsoft are no longer investing in new capabilities, nor will they accept requests for new features in WSUS. However with the release of Windows Server 2025 the WSUS role is still available, but organisations should start planning now to transition to cloud based tools for update management, for example Windows Autopatch and Microsoft Intune for client updates and Azure Update Manager for server update management. #endpointmanagement #microsoft #wsus

This is kind of a big deal so make sure your org is already planning a shift away from WSUS as we begin our deprecation cycle on that tooling. It's important to note that deprecation is the stage of the product lifecycle when a feature or service is no longer in active development. WSUS deprecation does not impact existing capabilities or support for Microsoft Configuration Manager While the WSUS role remains available in Windows Server 2025, we recommend organizations transition to cloud tools, including Windows Autopatch and Microsoft Intune for client update management and Azure Update Manager for server update management.
