Agentic AI systems are AI agents that can independently perform complex tasks, make decisions, and operate with true autonomy. Currently, the business focus of agentic AI is automating workflows, which would significantly reduce the need for humans in these processes. Writer is an SF based startup. We live in the SF Bay Area and follow AI startups. Yet, we hadn't heard of them. A few years ago, a tech startup worth $2 billion would have definitely been on our radar screen. The New York ecosystem for dual-use technology is small but strong and growing rapidly. Thanks to companies like Decisive Point and @a16z who continue to support the community with networking events for founders, investors, and community members. More and more founders are recognizing the value in partnering with the DOD as a strong way to support the country's national security interests while hopefully decreasing the tax burden on citizens regarding government spend as commercially available technology becomes more available and affordable for government organizations. Not only this, but the DOD serves as a great test bed and sandbox for emerging technologies and talent. #dualuse #emergingtech #defensetech #Kilsar

There is a lot of swirl going on.. and something that isn’t truly addressed here are the actual concepts of Consumer based Proof/Permission of consent. When you can demonstrate that you have verifiable proof of an actual consumer intention and transparent understanding of consent, then collaboration raises to a whole new level. This enables “Performance Privacy” @qonsent @precise.ai “The truth is, data clean rooms can be complicated and hard to use, which is why we need end-to-end solutions that make the process easier,” Stesin says. But, more importantly, brands and publishers shouldn’t use data clean rooms as a crutch. “We agree with the FTC that companies must take responsibility for protecting data and clearly explain how it’s collected, used and shared,” Stesin says. “Privacy is about earning trust, not just checking boxes for compliance.” Good stuff from Vlad and Lauren here… we must collaborate to move this industry forward. Gosh. Non Fungible Tokens (NFTs) related to an asset that is a promised slice of the profits of OpenAI related to this investment round once profits start to happen. So, that is what investors will hold (a digital token) in return for their money. I guess the investor sees the opportunity for quick returns through the selling on of NFTs once projections reliably show future large profits. But persistent low to medium projections would not encourage that outcome and the investor is stuck with long term low to medium yield. See below.

The biggest updates coming to Apple’s iMessage and its Messages app in iOS 18 aren’t its AI emoji, Genmoji, or even the ability to send texts via satellite. It’s the ability to finally, finally schedule messages to send at a later date and time, as well as support for RCS, the next-gen messaging standard and replacement for SMS that will make texting with Android folks much less painful. These updates are now available in iOS 18’s public beta, which just opened up this week.

OpenAI just announced GPT-4o ("o" for "omni"), their new flagship model that can reason across audio, vision, and text in real time. Have you seen it? I just watched some of the videos and it's mind blowing. They even do a demo showing 2 AI Omni's interacting with each other and responding to the visual environment around them. Super impressive. This is a significant step towards a much more natural human-computer interaction. It accepts as input any combination of text, audio, and image and generates any combination of text, audio, and image outputs. It can even respond to audio inputs in as little as 232 milliseconds, with an average of 320 milliseconds, which is on par with human response time! California is partnering with AI companies to responsibly test GenAI for improving government services. This will start with limited trials to assess benefits and de-risk as much as they can before scaling. 🔜 The state is focusing AI trials on high-impact applications like reducing call center wait times, optimizing traffic, and better serving non-English speakers. 🔜 CA has established AI procurement guidelines to ensure responsible adoption and mitigate risks around privacy, bias, and unintended consequences. I feel moving too slow in adoption of GenAI could leave governments at risk for falling behind in innovation and service delivery, stifling economic development and competitiveness. This could even undermine public trust - as a lack of transparency in using modern technologies becomes apparent.
