Last week, FT reported that the state’s appeal is diminishing among its 30M+ residents — and some of the hundreds of businesses that helped it become a formidable force on the national stage. ▪️ Texas’s infrastructure is struggling to keep pace with its expansion — with issues in power grids, water utilities, and public services causing the state to fall out of the first five rankings in CNBC’s America’s Top States for Business last year. ▪️ Companies drawn by Texas’s “business-friendly” reputation are now concerned about potential backlash from conservative politicians over issues like diversity and environmental policies. In the future, when historians analyze the disintegration of New York, they will reach the conclusion that what was once the greatest city in the world was destroyed by leftist policies that, among other things,: - castrated law enforcement, including freeing (or declining to prosecute) even violent criminals - ignored rising antisemitism (in a city where 20+% of the population is Jewish) - drove out a major percentage of the residential tax base by raising taxes, villifying the successful, and antagonizing those who did not fall into line with the socialist and ultrawoke theologies dictated by the draconian single party rulers - reallocated taxpayer funds from taxpayer services to the pursuit of social engineering fantasies, including supporting and attracting illegal immigrants - chased away the core industry of New York, its financial sector, through an overt attack on capitalism through high taxes, a litany of anti-business laws and policies, and support of a duopolistic stock exchange whose prioritized virtue signaling at the expense of competitive position I'm sure I'm missing plenty of other reasons for what appears to be the inevitable decimation of the city where I loved growing up, going to school, and working for so many years. #newyorkcity #stockexchange #nyc #nasdaq #nyse #texas #fleeingnewyork #migrationfromnewyork #florida #finance #business #taxes #capitalism

The Wall Street Journal reports on a very good development in the financial sector today (6/7/2024). The investment community is seeking alternatives to the expensive and restrictive duopoly of the New York Stock Exchange and NASDAQ in New York City. Two of Wall Street's biggest players, Black Rock and Citadel Securities, and more than 20 other investment groups, are backing the establishment of a new stock exchange in Dallas, TX -- the Texas Stock Exchange (TXSE). The new stock exchange plans to submit a registration with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission to operate as a national securities exchange later this year. Excerpts from the WSJ article: "New York politicians, watch out. A new stock exchange based in Texas could soon challenge Nasdaq and the New York Stock Exchange—and the Empire State’s status as America’s financial capital. "The TXSE Group on Wednesday announced it has raised $120 million for a new electronic trading platform dubbed the Texas Stock Exchange (TXSE). Its investors, including BlackRock and Citadel Securities, “represent a significant portion of the equity volume on U.S. lit exchanges and together comprise a majority of all U.S. listed retail volume,” the group said. (A lit exchange is an open and public one, in contrast to a so-called dark pool of capital.) "That’s a strong vote of confidence in the Texas exchange—and of frustration with the New York duopoly. TXSE CEO James Lee explained that the new exchange’s goal is to “create more competition around quote activity, liquidity and transparency.” "For years public companies and brokers have complained about high fees at Nasdaq and the NYSE, but they’ve paid up for access to America’s deep capital markets. Even so, the duopoly’s fees have helped drive some 40% of trading volume off the two exchanges, resulting in less liquidity and worse pricing on the exchanges. "New York, the home of Alexander Hamilton and J.P. Morgan, has been losing ground to Sun Belt states for some time. New York’s finance jobs have grown 1.6% since the start of the pandemic compared to 12.2% in Florida and 12.4% in Texas. Goldman Sachs, Wells Fargo and Bank of America have expanded in Dallas. "Because Wall Street accounts for a large share of New York tax revenue, the Texas Stock Exchange could pose as much a threat to the state’s tax-and-spend politicians as to the NYSE and Nasdaq. On #Trump Assassination attempt and America's Future As you all know, I expected Biden to be moved aside. I wondered why the Democrats were waiting so long. They might have been waiting to see if the planned assassination of Trump succeeded. #Biden was an issue because he cannot win or come close enough to winning for the Democrats to be able to steal the election as they did in 2020. As the assassination failed, the Democrats need a more viable candidate, one the media can hype as one who can run a close race and win. Fake polls will be published that show the Democrat to be leading Trump. This allows the Democrats to steal the election if necessary. As there is not sufficient time for the Democrats to create a winning persona for a new presidential candidate, they need someone with name recognition and existing support, such as Hillary Clinton. Hillary and Obama are the main political figures in the Democrat Party. If Hillary has Obama’s support, she is likely to be the candidate. Kamala Harris is not regarded as having any better chance than Biden. I do not think the Democrats can come up with a candidate who can defeat Trump. Democrats in the swing states have legalized the theft mechanisms they used in 2020 and 2022. If the race can be presented as close, the Democrats can steal the election, but they cannot win it Donald Trump’s presidency was disrupted by the ruling elite/deep state because he presented as a threat to them. When he said he intended to normalize relations with Russia Trump threatened the budget and power of the military/security complex, which needs Russia as an enemy. The director of the CIA, John Brennan, declared Trump to be a “traitor to America.” This set the ruling establishment working against Trump. There was Russia-gate, two impeachments, porn star-gate, documents-gate, insurrection-gate and then 4 criminal indictments and several civil indictments. The Democrats acting for the #DeepState believed they could get rid of Trump in these ways When these attempts failed, they turned to assassination. Acoustic evidence of the shootings make it clear that there were more than one shooter. The attempted assassination has given Trump a large sympathy vote. He cannot be honestly defeated The real question is: Will the deep state get away with its assassination attempt and will it attempt another? In order to keep the public’s focus off the attempted assassination, the #SecretService is being blamed for withholding sufficient resources necessary to protect Trump. This focuses attention away from a plot to kill Trump and places it on the sufficiency of the Secret Service’s budget and the appropriateness of its “diversity, equity, and inclusion” personnel policy What America faces is a population more divided than in 1861. I expect that there will be more attempts on Trump’s life. Welcome to “Silicon Fields” What is planned for Austin and Taylor as a result of the CHIPS Act funding? The latest investment will go a long way toward establishing what federal officials are calling a "Central Texas cluster" for Samsung in Taylor and North Austin. In the next five years, it will lead to the creation of 4,500 manufacturing jobs, at least 17,000 construction jobs and tens of thousands of indirect jobs spurred by the supply chain moving to the region, federal officials said. The additional investment in Taylor will create what federal officials called "a comprehensive advanced manufacturing ecosystem." That includes two fabs to produce 4-nanometer and 2-nanometer chips, an advanced packaging facility to no longer handle that part of the process in Taiwan and a research-and-design lab that will mark the fourth of its kind in the world. Those elements are all expected to be completed by 2027.

A Renaissance in Gold Mining Coming to Nevada President Trump has said he's going to clean up Washington and move many of the Government's headquarters out of DC. When he was President before, he relocated the Bureau of Land Management to Colorado, but it did little good. I am expecting the BLM, EPA, SEC and several other government bodies to be more-than relocated after Elon Musk gets to work. I am expecting these government bodies to streamline their application processing to simple check the box forms. Oh sure, you'll have to attach your evidence to support it. But with the BLM it shouldn't take 9 to 24 months to get a permit to drill on government land. The same goes with the EPA. If these government bodies were streamlined in application processes you would see a renaissance in oil drilling and mining, both industrial and precious metals mining. In surveying Nevada geologists, the consensus is that we will see these things happen within 24 months and when it does its going to be "drill baby drill"! If you streamlined the SEC with its overwhelming regulations that actually prohibit small cap financing, things will change. Decades back I remember when the NASD ruled over broker dealers. That all changed when the adopted FINRA and right after that the small, regional underwriters began to disappear, overwhelmed with dual regulatory prohibitions that made it nearly impossible to stay in business and within a few years, better than 70% of them disappeared for good. Now, only about 5% remain. This has to be reversed. The power on Wall Street is under the control of a handful of national brokerage and money management firms. They need to be broken up. Remember the bank failures during the Obama administration? Then came new rules out of a Democratic-held Congress that made it so only US Treasuries could be held by banks. That led to the collapse of banks as they couldn't put their cash anywhere else. Gone was gold, A-Rated muni bonds and corporate bonds. Trump needs to reverse that trend, breakup these Wall Street monopolies and streamline the SEC... especially its enforcement division. That will create new regional bankers that will finance that know their own markets and the business headquartered there. I am not against money management. Heaven only knows that many investors would rather have a professional oversee their investments. But a lot of those mega-management firms choose to put the bulk of that cash into the same stocks and funds. What happens when one of them collapses? It will create a retirement nightmare! Just look at where the Dow is and how it leapt 1500 points when Trum won the Presidential Race. There is an unprecedented amount of cash that's piled up on the sidelines in money market accounts and most of that is from small investors, not the fat-cat institutions. Brokerages are charging ungodly rates to borrow at your brokerage, double-digit! It prohibits investment.

**WHILE YOU WEREN'T PAYING ATTENTION...** Sadly, cable TV replaced (free) local TV networks. Then, the internet replaced the local newspaper, making it difficult to get good reliable news about the area in which you live. Then, social media and other technology like Facebook and Google dominated and 'filtered' the info that you can share or access. And now, one of the people behind all of this nonsense, George Soros, is trying to dominate and control the last bastion of the First Amendment and conservatism: AM talk radio. AM radio is free and available in almost every rural, suburban and urban area of our nation. Could it be that he wants to stop people from hearing info, news and opinions that differ from him and his Leftist, one-world cronies? Fortunately, the alternative media (X/Twitter, Substack, Rumble, Truth Social, etc.) is growing rapidly. People like Mark Levin, Glenn Beck, Joe Rogan, Dan Bongino, Tucker Carlson and many others have a voice that you can still hear. HERE'S MY POINT. It is human nature to dislike and resist when we are told by power-hungry tyrants that we cannot have or believe something. So people will always find a workaround or some way to cheat the system in order to get what they want. Repression is often the mother of invention. And I like that a lot.

Oil companies are conveying an unlikely message to the GOP and its presidential candidate: Spare President Biden’s signature climate law. At least the parts that benefit the oil industry. In discussions with former President Trump’s campaign and his allies in Congress, oil giants including Exxon Mobil XOM 1.84%increase; green up pointing triangle, Phillips 66 PSX -0.22%decrease; red down pointing triangle and Occidental Petroleum OXY 1.77%increase; green up pointing triangle have extolled the benefits of the Inflation Reduction Act. Many in the fossil-fuel industry opposed the law when it passed in 2022 but have come to love provisions that earmark billions of dollars for low-carbon energy projects they are betting on. Some executives in the largely pro-Trump oil industry are worried the former president, if re-elected, would side with conservative lawmakers who want to gut the IRA. They fear losing tax credits vital for their investments in renewable fuel, carbon capture and hydrogen, costly technologies requiring U.S. support to survive their early years. At a Houston fundraiser for Trump in May, Occidental CEO Vicki Hollub took her case directly to the candidate, saying tax credits propping up the company’s huge investments in technology to collect carbon directly from the air should be preserved, people familiar with the matter said. The company is building its first $1.3 billion direct-air capture plant in West Texas and aims to erect dozens more in the coming years. Exxon has also told the Trump campaign it wants to preserve portions of the IRA. It and Chevron, the two largest U.S. oil companies, have promised to pump more than $30 billion combined into carbon capture, hydrogen, biofuels and other low-carbon technologies, virtually all of which rely on tax credits in the IRA to be viable. Meanwhile, company officials at Phillips 66, a $58 billion U.S. oil refiner, have told members of Congress the IRA’s tax credits are important for its business, people familiar with the matter said. Instead of crude oil, the company’s renewable fuels are made from used cooking oil, vegetable oil, fats and the like, which qualify it for large tax credits.
