TSCRA is recognized as a spokesman for the Texas cattle industry statewide and nationally on legislation, animal care, regulatory matters, and other issues that might affect the best interests of cattlemen. TSCRA works closely with the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association, the Cattlemen’s Beef Promotion and Research Board, the U.S. Meat Export Federation, and the Texas Beef Council, all of which it helped found, as well as other livestock groups, on issues of mutual interest.

TSCRA has four policy committees responsible for identifying, studying, and prioritizing issues and opportunities that affect members and the cattle industry. This includes the development of policy positions that guide the associations action on legislation, regulation, research, education, and other activities. Some of the focus areas of the natural resources and wildlife committee includes:
    • federal and state water laws, regulations, and programs
    • practices for conserving and improving natural resources
    • wildlife diseases and federal and state agencies response to the control of any such wildlife disease outbreak
    • federal engage species listing, laws, and regulations
    • beef production sustainability measures and promotions of sustainability best practices.
