State Job Market Update - August 2024 The latest from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics shows dynamic shifts in the job market: Job Openings: Rates increased in 6 states, with significant rises in Utah (+2.2%), Minnesota (+1.6%), and Nebraska (+1.2%). Decreases noted in Colorado (-0.8%) and Illinois (-0.6%). Hires: Rates fell in 6 states, with notable drops in Arizona and Michigan (-1.1% each). Florida saw an increase (+0.9%). Total Separations: Decreased in 10 states, with Alaska showing the largest drop (-1.2%). An uptick observed in Texas (+0.6%). Two weeks back I celebrated my last week with Spherion Utah. 🧡 I am very grateful for the experiences, knowledge and opportunities gained while working with this team over the past two years. I will miss everyone both in Utah/Idaho but also the corporate and national friends I made as well. I could write dozens of posts about the things I learned, though I'll just pick one for the sake of time and space- the things I learned working under and alongside Lisa Viator. Lisa was my manager during the majority of my time at Spherion and I learned many invaluable lessons during our time working together. She taught me small things like all the shortcuts on my keyboard to make work more efficient. She taught me how to use every software and system we have. She trained me to be a manager and to take over the branch when she got a promotion. But most of all, she taught me much more than I knew before about leadership. You'll see pictured below 5 pairs of earrings, all hand made by Lisa for me. The first pair she brought me were my peanut butter toast earrings, which just happens to be one of my favorite "quick" breakfasts before work. I believe I only shared this one time with Lisa, but she remembers all the little things about you. Next were my Spherion earrings, also hand made of course. Then came the gray cats, made to resemble my Ethel. They resembled her so closely I nearly cried at the thoughtfulness of this gift. Then came the pink cats because pink was my favorite color. Lastly, the carefully made spheres with tiny pieces of pink flowers dried into them. She knows how much I love flowers and plants, and again, the pink. While she taught me so much I couldn't even begin to share it all here, I thought this was a small example of her thoughtful leadership. And while I'm no jewelry maker, 😂 I will carry these lessons with me into future roles. Speaking of which... Stay tuned to an update to where I landed! #leadership #thoughtfulleadership #spherion
