In a significant blow to patient-centered care in California, the Integrated Healthcare Association has discontinued use of patient experience measurement in its incentive payment program (AMP) beginning in 2025. Without a business case for providers to measure and report patient experience, the program is no longer sustainable and PBGH will sunset the Patient Assessment Survey (PAS) program. No other patient experience measures were identified for program use. Patient experience is a key attribute of high-quality care and a priority for patients and purchasers. PBGH has operated the Patient Assessment Survey for over 20 years. The results were used by the State of California and health plans to identify and reward patient-centered care. Upon conclusion of the program July 31, 2024, PBGH will work with partners to seek new and innovative measurement methods.
