CHCANYS urges Governor Hochul to raise Medicaid rates for Community Health Centers in the upcoming state budget. CHCs serve more than 2.4 million New Yorkers at nearly 900 sites across New York State, providing essential primary, dental, and behavioral health care, in addition to social services. After 25 years of underinvestment, Community Health Centers are facing a financial crisis, with costs exceeding Medicaid reimbursement rates by 44%. We’re calling on Governor Hochul to raise Medicaid rates and address inequities in telehealth reimbursement to ensure our centers can continue serving our communities. They count on us. Can we count on you, Governor Hochul? Read our full letter to the Governor here: https://lnkd.in/e2AP9Q_6

Brooklyn Plaza Medical Center Inc. had an opportunity to be part of Community Health Care Association of NYS Race Ethnicity & Language (REaL) Data Collection Cohort 3. The purpose of this project was to help build capacity to collect expanded race and ethnicity categories, and explore strategies to analyze granular data. We had an opportunity to work with our practice coach, Derrecia Graham on re-designing current workflows to better capture REaL and aggregate and disaggregate the data to inform and facilitate targeted patient interventions. At the conclusion of the project, we presented our work in collaboration with other health centers in Tarrytown, NY. Thank you so much to Derrecia & CHCANYS!

"Telehealth is one of the bright spots that came out of the pandemic mess...It really revolutionized things for us, especially in our rural areas, like in the North Country." Ray Babowicz, Director of Communications and Strategic Partnerships at Community Health Center of the North Country, and Marie Mongeon, VP of Policy at Community Health Care Association of NYS spoke to North Country Public Radio's Amy Feiereisel about the looming "Telehealth Cliff" and why Congress needs to act now to save this vital service for Community Health Center patients. #ValueCHCs Read more and listen here:

Amazing news! Congratulations to Trillium Health and a huge thank you to Senator Schumer and Congressman Morelle! #ValueCHCs
Today is a milestone in Trillium Health's history! Congressman Joe Morelle and Senator Chuck Schumer have announced that Trillium Health will receive $3 million in federal funding to increase access to healthcare and improve the well-being of low-income families and historically marginalized communities in the Greater Rochester area. In addition, this funding will convert Trillium Health into a Federally Qualified Health Center, which will increase our access to federal resources and allow us to serve more people - regardless of their ability to pay. Congratulations to CHCANYS' Workforce Development Initiatives team, honored by the Borough of Manhattan Community College's Division of Adult Continuing Education & Workforce Development. The team was presented with the Industry Partnerships Award for supporting apprenticeship programs in NY State at a ceremony held during National Apprenticeship Week. CHCANYS has been working with the New York State Department of Labor to develop the Medical Assistant Apprenticeship Program (MAAP). Apprentices are seen here participating in their first in-person lab day at our NYC office. CHCANYS also attended NYSDOL's 2024 New York State Apprenticeship Summit on November 14 in Albany, held during Apprenticeship Month in NYS. The summit brought together workforce development experts, advocates, and stakeholders to collaborate on ways to expand diversity, address barriers, and attract program sponsors to this form of higher education. Registered apprenticeships provide New Yorkers access to quality careers through paid on-the-job learning and supplemental classroom instruction.
