HOT OPINION: Here's when you should NOT invest in a new website if you're planning on just updating the design of it and saying "Look, we have a brand." I met with a client two weeks ago who asked me if they should spend $40k on building a new website TODAY with us OR spend some time with their leadership team and engage us on a smaller scope of work to do the following: -Reproductize their services and look at what was most and least profitable -Address their messaging issues and clearly define who they are -Update their brand promise and their positioning statements -Build a voice and tone and internal communications strategy as well as an external communications strategy Yes, less agency work (half the quote) but WAY more impactful on building their business. And they may even decide to do this work internally and NOT use us. I could have sold them the website. It's end of year - and we want to end strong. But that's not what this client in the blue collar space needed. They need to do some real strategy work on who they are and whether they use us to do it or not, I'm not going to tell them investing in a shiny new website will fix their problems. If you don't do the strategy work first, you're literally just putting lipstick on a pig. Get clear on your story, get clear on your why and THEN build the shiny new site to get it out to the world. #marketing #branding #strategywork

Why Trust Building=More Money For Your Business. I had a meeting with a client this week where we were breaking down their marketing funnel. Now most business owners think the goal of their funnel is to make money. This isn't true. The goal of your funnel is to build trust, then money flows out. It is a small change in thinking, but completely changes the approach to funnel building. Because it leads us to ask the question... "Does our customer trust us more or less after this interaction" This change in mindset changes customers from one-time buyers to a renewable financial resource. Where every interaction they have with your business is building more and more trust. Now here is the math equation to Trust... Trust = Attention + Time Spent First, you need attention which you buy with ads or content. When users give attention, they give time. The more time they give, the more trust is built. So the goal of any marketing campaign is not to just get attention, it is to increase time spent with your brand. Whether it is more time spent on your sales page, with your product, or simply consuming content. Each minute spent with your brand builds trust. And as more trust is built, more money is spent. So instead of thinking about the outcome, more money, when building your funnel. Think about what creates more money, trust, when building your funnel. Then money will simply flow out of your marketing funnel.

Local business owners it's extremely important you get this right in your ads... The message in your ad needs to be clear, concise, decisive, powerful, compelling, persuasive, and intriguing. It needs to make the potential prospect sit up instead of skipping the ad. To do this, we don’t say the same thing that other people say. We say something unique that stands out and hooks the attention of the potential prospect. And it can’t be “we’re cheap” – that guarantees failure. Think about who you are talking to. 💥Why it is important to really get to know your client💥 People are not just purchasing a product. They are buying into the belief they have in the person. I am not generic. I do not want to hash out the usual boring content that people skim past. I want to make your profile pop. To do this I want to know your hopes, dreams, desires and fears. I want to know about your journey. Where you have come from, where you are at and what you hope to achieve. I want to be able to feel your tone and emotions that you apply to your life and work. I want to know about your quirks, your sense of humour, your attributes. I want to see you shine in your personal and professional life and assist in getting you to your dream destination 💕 Let's Fly.

At least once a month, someone asks me: How should I segment my list? Not surprising, given many email marketing softwares show you to set it up *technically*. But because they don't know you and your business, they can't actually show you how to do it *strategically* for your business. So what's the answer I give people when they ask? It depends. Sorry, folks, there's not templated way to segment your email list. But there's a least one segment I set up for every client I work with, and a few others I recommend based on how and what they're marketing and organizing their list. Control Spending ❓What's the best platform to advertise on? Depends on your audience. All media has a place, but it only matters to you if that's where YOUR audience is ❓Do I have to spend a lot? No, I'd rather see you spend WELL than spend A LOT. I always encourage clients to optimize non-paid platforms before adding paid advertising to their mix. (such as websites, social media posts, organic videos, and networking). But you do need to spend something- your competition is probably spending more than you realize. Still lost? Extra domain names? Multiple domain names can be a challenge for a business. What do you do with them? Business acquisitions, old domain ideas, spelling variations, you name it. You have a domain name for it. How do you point them to your main website? You’ve got a couple options: 🔀 Change the htaccess file on the web server 🔀 Redirect from your domain registrar 🔀 Use a CNAME entry in DNS (but not the best idea) How many domain names do you have? What are you doing with them?
