Given the rapid decline in local media coverage and the questions about its economics, automated government transparency will become more critical. This is just the start of what can and should be done. Very excited to see how it plays out. Also curious how they solve issues around hallucinations (I assume they have a human in the loop?) and are likely using RAG to fine-tune/reduce risks of errors. #LLMs #AI

Hope. My friend, David Yarnold’s, recent book release, The Geography of Hope, tells nine stories of optimists who believe that technology can affect change. I too believe that technology can be an amazing force for good. I spoke with David for Esri’s The Science of Where podcast where we discussed a synopsis of the book and our shared awe at the power of geography and GIS. It is my belief that the telling of GIS stories will display the power of geospatial thinking to expand problem solving and create a better world. Optimists mapping a better world. 💡In addition to the nine examples in Yarnold’s book, I want to hear from you: what projects do you know of that are mapping the world for a better future? Next week, the CloudBolt Software marketing team is embarking on a week long off-site to redefine our primary #GTM motions, our TRM, TAM, ICP, personas, buyer journey, and design thematic, #integratedcampaigns to support each. Which is why last week's weekly research update from GTM Partners about "Knowing Your Total Relevant Market" could not have been more timely. The very first pillar in GTM Partners's GTM Operating System is Total Relevant Market (TRM). And rightly so... it’s foundational to a successful, strategic GTM. And the numbers don't lie. Companies with a well-defined TRM and ICP get more customers and more revenue. In fact, knowing your TRM boosts sales success by 67%! 🤯 But companies still miss the mark in terms of reaching and converting a significant portion of their potential market. 🤔 Why? Let's break it down: ❶ TRM, TAM, ICP (contrary to popular belief) do not mean the same thing. Nor can you (or should) define one without the others.  • TAM is who you COULD target. • TRM is who you SHOULD target. • ICP is your best-fit customers who are mostly like to convert, renew, and expand. It’s ok to have multiple ICPs within one TRM. ❷ ICPs are often created in a vacuum and fail to bake in perspective, insights, and data from cross-functional teams. Just like any key GTM initiative, it should be approached collaboratively across RevOps, Marketing, Sales, CS, and Product. It takes a village folks! ❸ Your ICP becomes stale and many companies “set it and forget it”. Your TRM, TAM, and ICP should be reevaluated at the very least yearly, if not semi-annually or quarterly. Do you know how much the internal meeting you just had cost? Was it really worth it? At airevplatform.com, we tag, report, and track every hour spent by the team. This practice was in place before I joined—it was initially geared towards engineers—and the salesperson inside me initially revolted against it. Let’s be honest, nobody enjoys tagging hours. Over time, though, it grew on me. Tagging still sucks, but the data we gather is priceless. Now, we can easily track the cost of every meeting, and I can measure each person's individual efficiency, even for part-time team members. Here are some examples of the conversations we are having: "You were prospecting for 4 hours each day for a week and got no leads? We either have a volume problem, a messaging problem, or a targeting problem. Let's dig in." "I spent 1 hour prospecting last week. Am I overwhelmed with meetings? What kinds of meetings?" "How much did we spend to acquire this client? Was it 15 calls for $99/month contract with no expansion potential?" "We invited 20 people to a meeting that really only required 3? Let’s examine this and make sure we don’t overspend on the planned budget in the future." As our company grows, I may ease some of the rules around tagging and automate it as much as possible, but this method has opened my eyes to a lot of efficiencies and inefficiencies in our process. In a world where bootstrapping and profitability are becoming cool again, this approach is one of the ways to keep track of what's working and what's not.

It was great to speak with so many like-minded leaders at the Hg Capital Leadership conference last week and thank you for the great questions and quality of the debate. Some post conference thoughts: 1) The speed of change in the generative AI field is actually increasing, and no one can afford to sit on the sidelines. Companies need to address how generative AI changes both their internal operations and external products/services. 2) To be successful, generative AI projects need to be integrated into the flow of day-to-day work. This allows you to bring relevant context to enhance the quality of any response - and metadata matters! And as the early wave of consumer AI starts to merge with business AI, nothing is more important than trust. 3) Generative AI projects need exec sponsorship and a business value case first - they are too important to sit as a pilot/POC with no outcome in mind. Every great experiment starts with a discovery in mind, or a hypothesis to be proven or disproven.
