My involvement with IGNITE Worldwide includes speaking on various panels held virtually and throughout the San Francisco Bay Area. Additionally, I am currently working on the partnership between Apple Inc. and IGNITE Worldwide. In March 2019, I co-organized an event to bring local high schools students to Apple's campus to meet with employees, dissect and explore Apple's HomePod hardware product, and listen to panelists speak about their personal journeys into the technology sector.

Repay is the integrated mobile and web solution to solve the problem of cumbersome and inefficient reimbursement processes between businesses and their interviewees. It plays off the idea that many graduating college seniors endure when looking for a job: there is not a hassle-free process for interviewees to be repaid for expenses when traveling to and from an interview. Different companies have different methods of dealing with reimbursements for externally sponsored individuals, from needing these interviewees mail in their receipts or having them fill out Excel expense reports.

Repay allows for interviewees to take photos of their receipts ad-hoc and submit those receipts to the mobile app to be immediately sent to the business; it also allows for business HR to digitally approve or deny the requests. Businesses can also set budgets for their interviewees to regulate their expenses.

Vivian developed the web application in AngularJS and I developed the iOS client in Swift. The two interfaces are connected through Firebase.

General Atomics served as our customer for our year-long software engineering capstone project. Our main task was to develop a sense and avoid correlation algorithm for General Atomics's unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). Additionally, our project system comprised of a sensor data simulation server and cockpit display of traffic information (CDTI). Throughout the entire year, we had bi-weekly conference calls with our mentor Don Rose at General Atomics to stay on track with the company's expectations.

Since this was a year-long project, each quarter focused of very different part of our project. In the fall of 2015, we focused on writing the vision and scope and software requirements documents. Our final fall quarter deliverables were horizontal and vertical prototypes. In the winter of 2016, we simultaneously began the development of the core components mentioned earlier. This time period also included preliminary testing of our components. In the spring of 2016, we revisited each component, iterating upon it, adding new features, and enhancing our correlation clustering algorithm. Subsequently we thoroughly tested all classes and learned how to improve our legacy code.
Finally we packaged and deployed our software to General Atomics.

  • Scheduler Tool

    -

Team: Vivian Fong, Myra Lukens, Auberon Lopez, Katelyn Hicks, Nupur Garg, Esha Joshi

Desktop application designed to help Cal Poly's Computer Science department in creating schedules. Generates schedules by computing a "flexibility score" for each instructor based on his/her preferences and uses a greedy algorithm by sorting the instructors by least flexible first. Worked in a team of six for 22 weeks through the design, implementation, and testing phases of application.
