🍪 It’s National Chocolate Chip Cookie Day! 🍪 So many great things just aren’t possible without the grain industry. One of our favorites? The chocolate chip cookie. While it might seems like another silly holiday, it IS a great opportunity to bake up some of these sweet treats from our industry, so preheat your oven to 350 because it’s time to bake up a GEAPS staffer favorite. In a medium bowl, sift together: 2 1/2 C flour 2 tsp baking soda 1 tsp salt In a mixer, add: 1 C unsalted butter, at room temperature 1 C firmly packed light brown sugar 3/4 C granulated sugar Beat those together for a couple minutes turn the mixer to slow and add: 2 eggs 2 tsp vanilla Slowly add the flour mixture until fully mixed. Turn off your mixer and get a rubber spatula or wooden spoon to add 2 C chocolate chips. Add one cup chopped walnuts and think about nutritional value. Use a small ice cream scoop or a heaping tablespoon to put the dough on a parchment paper covered baking sheet, 2 inches apart. Put the cookies in the oven and set timer for 6 minutes. Take them out of the oven and slam the sheet on the counter to get nice and chewy flat cookies. Return to oven. Bake until done to your likeness, another 5-6 minutes. I don't often post here, but I thought I might throw this out there for new and upcoming team leaders/supervisors. Many supervisors (myself included) started like this. You are not alone. 1. When you're not used to being confident, confidence will feel like arrogance. 2. When you're used to being passive, assertiveness will feel like aggression. 3. When you're not used to getting your needs met, prioritising yourself feels selfish. 4. Your comfort zone is not always a good benchmark. Food for thought. Cheers.
